Frequent wake-up
I've been on CPAP for a couple weeks now. So far I'd say it's going swimmingly, thankfully my providers were kind enough to give me good equipment and a mask that feels nonpresent. However, even though I'm sleeping through the night I keep waking up every hour and a half or so, sometimes with a real need to cough so I have to yank my mask off to take care of it. I always just put the mask back on and go back to sleep. Is the clockwork waking up just my body being used to only two hours of actual rest a night? About how long does it take before you start actually staying asleep the whole night? What about that cough?
Re: Frequent wake-up
sounds about right. you will get used to the mask as long as it doesn't hurt. Give yourself some time to adjust. I also take off the mask to cough. I started using a neti pot and then the bottle to rinse my sinuses before bed. It seems to help me and my lifelong post nasal dripOmniMarconi67 wrote:I've been on CPAP for a couple weeks now. Yep, what elader said.
If your body is not used to making it through an entire sleep cycle uninterupted, it gets all happy with itself when it does and it thinks it has done all it needs to do. It has to learn it can stay asleep. Takes different amounts of time for different people to normalize the pattern. But doing your best to go to bed and to get up near the same times every day, especially for a while, should help your body find its new sleep rhythm.
