I really don't think that the "fine adjustment" would have any affect (as a benefit) on what you described in your post in that thread.

I might have a little more time to write up a post today.

Probably not from your point of view Den. But from my point of view it has. And I have proved it with experience!
My pressure is supposed to be at 8.0 but I got severe chest and back pain with pressure that high. So I adjusted my pressure back to 7.0 and "GRADUALLY" worked my way up with the "FINE ADJUSTMENT" and now I can use the machine comfortably with "MAIN PRESSURE" at 7.5 and "FINE ADJUSTMENT" at 0

I had downloaded the following manual and read it prior to posting.
http://www.apneaboard.com/REMstar%20Plu ... 0Guide.pdf
It didn't answer my question and so far no one else has answered it.
The main question is if I'm at 8.0 pressure with the main pressure at 7.0 plus fine pressure at 1.0?
Or if I'm at 7.1 pressure?
But it seems to me that I probably cant obtain the information from this site. So I better just keep on "GRADUALLY" working my way up to what I think might be the magic 8.0 pressure.
For your information I have "spondylolishesis" back problem which I expect to be the root of my chest and back discomforts from using the CPAP.

This has been a great site and I thank everybody who has assisted me!

I just read this post. I have a Remstar Plus M series CPAP. I just had it repaired and when I got it back I noticed that I now have a "Fine Pressue" setting when entering setup mode. I swear it wasn't there before. I have had my machine about 3 years now. So I assume that whoever repaired it must have given it a firmware update that now includes a fine pressure setting. My fine pressure setting is at .9 cmH20.

Here is my 2 cents on the fine pressure setting: I assume that each machine may not blow exact air pressures, especially when considering altitude. So if your prescription is 7 cmH20 the technician setting up your machine will unlock your machine and enter "setup mode" and adjust the air flow pressue to 7 cmH20. This setting will show up on your screen and the user will see it and be happy. However, the technician should test the machine with a manometer to verify that it is truly outputting 7 cmH20. Let's say that the manometer indicates that the machine is really only blowing at 5.9 cmH20. The technician can then adjust "fine pressue" setting to 1.1 cmH20. 5.9 + 1.1 = 7.0 cmH20. So now the machine is outputting true 7 cmH20 air flow and the machine still shows the setting at 7.0 cmH20 to the user on the regular screen so that the user doesn't freak out say their prescription is wrong. Without the hidden super secret "fine pressure" setting, the machine would have to be set at 8.0 cmH20 and then the technician would have to explain that eventhough their prescription is 7 cmH20 their machine isn't prerfectly calibrated and they have to set their machine to 8 cmH20 to get a 7 cmH20 pressure. Yeah.....you can imagine the customer service nightmare and questions by customers that scenario would create.

Anyway, in short, the fine pressure setting from what I can tell is used to adjust the machine to true pressures using a manometer while allowing the correct prescription setting to show up on the screen for the user/customer to see so everyone is happy. Hope this helps. I am not a technician, these are my observations based on what I have studied on this subject.
