Well, it's been about 3 weeks on my new cpap and really have not seen any improvement(i know it takes time)...I find myself fixing my nasal pillows as sometimes I just don't feel the air blowing, when I move during sleep there goes my mask moving to and I hear it leak, I have the resmed swift for ladies.
I could not use it last night because I've been coughing and wheezing this weekend that I almost went to the ER...I don't have asthma(never had it but who knows now)...I will have to make an appt. with my dr.
I still feel tired during the day and my drive from work back home, is so awful l that I have to pull over at times to rest (I already had an accident like this back in May 08).
When will I see improvements? Should I switch masks?...at times I wake up with dry throat but I noticed that when I use my humidifier, I always use it setting 1, should I raise it up more?
Cpap use update...
Re: Cpap use update...
Sorry you're have a tough beginning. For some, higher heat/more humidity helps with the dry or sore throat, so you could easily give that a try, maybe bump it up a notch beyond "1." Or, if you are mouth breathing, then all of that CPAP forced air is blowing out your open mouth, resulting in no therapy and a VERY dry, perhaps sore throat. A full face mask would sure help if that is the issue. Good luck!

Re: Cpap use update...
Dry throat immediately makes me think of mouth breathing. How does your leak line look?
I didn't think I did, 'cause I never did before my BiPap. But after a couple episodes of "glue mouth" and waking up with a sticky dry mouth, I allowed as how that was the problem.
Some people use chin straps. Some people use a PapCap. Some people use tape or polident strips. None worked for me, so I had to invent my Brandy Keg. Now I have a pretty flat leak line, no glue mouth, and I'm sleeping through the night.

Re: Cpap use update...not to happy
I don't know if it's me, the cpap machine, or what?...but I have not been able to sleep with it!
I feel the cold air coming out of the hose but when I put the mask on, I feel nothing and discomfort, like I can't breathe.
I was up until 1am last night trying to find out the cause, switching masks and just ended going to bed without it...
I was a little stuffy but I usually put some drops of rhinocort and it usually helps but this time nothing did. I'm not sure if it's because of the chest discomfort/wheezing I've been experiencing lately but I have not been able to use my cpap for days.
I woke up with such a TERRIBLE headache this morning!

Re: Cpap use update...
I noticed you use ramp for 30 minutes -- in your "Additional Comments" rx: cpap @ 7cm h2o c-flex resmed mirage swift mask ramping @ 30 min. heated humidity.
I'd try these things:
I'd turn ramp OFF, for sure. Or at least shorten the ramp time to least amount of time it can be set for -- probably 5 minutes -- and I'd set the ramp pressure to start no lower than at 6 cm.
I'd probably raise the cpap pressure to 8 or 9 cm.
Given a dry mouth, I'd assume I was mouth breathing during my sleep, and I'd employ some kind of means (tape, polident strips, whatever) to put a stop to that:

I'd rig a hose hanger to make sure the hose didn't pull on the mask when I turned in my sleep:
