Frustrated!

Post by Jason S. » Thu Jan 29, 2009 9:03 am

I had two consequetive nights of restful sleep and was looking forward to a third last night. Instead I had terrible night, mask leaks, felt like it was hard to exhale, readjusting my mask all night. Couldn't get comfortable. Woke up with a headache and bags under my eyes. Are these nightly regressions pretty much par for the course?

I have been on mine for almost a month now. So far so good with me. Sleep mostly all through the night. I wake up maybe one time then fall back asleep. Getting about 6-7 good hours of sleep.

I've had my APAP for 6 months now and I still have the occasional bad night where I can't get to sleep with the thing on or I wake up and can't get back to sleep... But they are many fewer in number than when I first started. In the beginning, I was lucky to get 3-4 hours with it on. I'd say you're doing fine, even though I know it's frustrating. Hang in there.

It happened to me last week....which was the real reason I went to see my primary. I suspected sinus problems... I didn't get to it when he spotted the sore on my nose which looked infected, later said the antibiotics for the infection will probably also clear up my sinus infection....at first he said don't use the mask until the sore heals (and said to clean things with alcohol.) But as I was leaving he said don't use CPAP for while.

Also the first two nights were my best nights....then I was up every 2-3 hours....though playing around with my setup, including things like adjusting humidity, heating my hose, and switching masks....I was able to sleep for ~6 hours (and then the 1-2 hours until my alarm).

I think there's something to be said about this sleep bank thing....I probably slept really well the first couple nights, because my need for sleep overrode any problems I was having with the CPAP (like noise)....

The Dreamer.
