No Pressure Data in S8 Elite II

Post by Doodeedoo » Tue Jan 27, 2009 6:49 pm

I have been using my new Resmed Elite II CPAP for the last one and a half months.
For the last month I have accessed the Efficacy data on a daily basis. However, although I see the leak values as well as AI and AHI, when the screen is in the pressure information it shows No Data. According to the manual, this screen should display the 95th centile value for mask-on time.

I suspect it might be a setting somewhere but I am not sure. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

David

I don't have an Elite II but I do have an Autoset II. When I put it in straight CPAP mode is shows "no data" for the pressure in the efficiency report. I guess it assumes you already know what the pressure is. Only when it is in Auto mode does it report a pressure value.
It sounds like your Elite is acting like the Autoset does.
I cant comment on what your manual says...

Hi There---I have an Elite S8---and it is in CPAP mode - i see the pressure in the data screen every time I access it so I am not sure why yours does not do that for you. Did you take a look at the manual that came with the machine?

I don't see it either. I was told by my supplier that it's because the menu is designed for the CPAP and APAP. An APAP person working in APAP mode would see data there. Since we CPAPers are on a constant pressure, it doesn't bother telling us anything.

Thank you for the responses.
I doubt the reason is because it is used in CPAP mode. A colleague at work has an identical machine, same settings, also used as CPAP, and he does get pressure values. They are slightly less than the prescribed pressure, probably due to ETR.
The only difference in our settings is that he does not use the ramp feature as his set pressure is low (I believe 6 cm).

My husband has the same issue with his S8 Elite II. It was sent back to the company, and came back with the answer that it was not meant to display pressure. This was after we were told by a company tech that it should indeed show pressure.

I just replaced my S8 Elite II with an S8 AutoSet II. My memory is that with the Elite the pressure can be seen in the settings menu not in the Results-SmartData menu. Both the Elite and the Autoset use the same operator's manual so it can get confusing. My new AutoSet displays all the same results (Leak, AHI, AI & HI) as well as the use data (hours used) as my Elite II did. The difference is the AutoSet smartdata results desplays the pressure which I believe is the maximum pressure used not the pressure used 95% of the night. I may be wrong but my Elite II was set for 8 cm H2O and the first night's use of the AutoSet II displayed the pressure at 11.2 cm H2O.
Does anybody know for certain what the pressure of 11.2 means in the SmartData LED window of my ResMed AutoSet II?

Thank you KengEsq,

After reading your post I immediately tried accessing the Results data through the Clinician's menu. Same thing, it displays Pressure: No Data.

The fact that some Elite machines display the pressure and others do not, leads me to believe that it depends on which batch the machine was when manufactured. It has probably changed depending on when it left the factory.

Could you get to the "Settings" part of the clincal menu? If so, scroll thru the settings and it should display pressure setting in cm H2O - e.g. 10.0 cm H2O or just 10.0.

In the Clinician's menu I obviously access and can change the set pressure. It is in the Results menu that the 95th centile pressure should be displayed. This is not equal to the set pressure because of variations due to EPR and even possibly ramping.

I'm pretty certain that the results menu does not display the pressure setting or the 95% pressure. All you can see is the pressure setting in the settings menu on the Elite II. You need the AutoSet II to the 95% pressure in the Results menu.

Thank you KengEsq,

I know some do (I have seen it). That's the exact reason I initiated the topic. It may depend on the date of manufacture.

Just some thoughts rather than any concrete answers ...

The Elite & Auto are much the same machine - only the label & the internal software is the only difference. Resmed have changed features on various machine releases & sadly don't supply software upgrades to existing machines (that I am aware of).

The nights data remains in the display area until noon each day (am sure that is not your problem here).

The EPR feature does skew the average pressure & agreed that should show some variance in the 95% but, what would you want that info for ? - you can't really do much with it or interpret much from it ? - There may be a reason, but I can't see its relevance to anyone not using the Auto model.

Cheers
