Why buy software for the Resmed AutoSet II

Post by chriscummings83 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:13 pm

I used to have a M-series Auto /aflex, that didn't tell you anything but AHI. It was nice to see pressure and hi, and ai. And how many times a night.

But my questions is, Why would you with the resmed, It gives you 95% everything, and also ai, hi, ahi, leak, and pressure. I am just asking my self why does it matter that I was at 8.2 pressure for 12 mins, when I'm at a 10 pressure for 95% of the night. What else could I want to know?

I am wanting help understanding if I really need to buy it. What info are you all wanting to see that it wont' let me

Thank you

I said it was the third or fourth best software out there, but even with those limits, it still shows you better what is going on and when that no software. The LCD gives you info but no context. Are you enjoying your trade down? jim

It isn't a trade down, oh stop it lol. I beleive its a trade up in machine, but yes a lil trade down in software. It shows pretty much the same stuff besides FL and VS. Everything else is there.

The reason i like it so much is every other machine you breath to the machine, this one breathes as you do. It learns how you breath.

I just got my ResScan software working last weekend.....................I love the visual of seeing little blue boxes for my Hypo's and the red flag with length of time for my apneas to scare the *pooie* out of me! Also there are report options, summary options and ability to compare data I can easily access w/o too much extra effort via software. Also for me, part of my bargining with the sleep MD to get the RX for the machine I thought best for me, was to promise a report at my return visits since his office/sleep lab appears to have exclusive use of a different brand. I'm finding the data/software data a serious reinforcment of using my machine. And one of my favorite options with the software, I can download a picture of my kitty to represent the patient...... anything that is kat friendly.........I'm happy with........... I was awaken this morning with my 16.5 year old Blue Angel lying on my shoulder sniffiny my mask and pawing at the air vent!!!!! Nothing like waking up wiht

Personally i believe it's quite a trade down in software, no way around it, no matter how much bashing the Encore software gets, it's still gives you more visual data than the ResScan software does. But it's still data and you can see what effect leakages, for instance, may be having at certain times of the night with your pressure and AHI's.

As far as machines go, yes the Autoset II is a pretty good machine, it's quiet and very comfortable to breath into. My only real complaint on the M Series A-Flex was the noise that mine developed on occasion. (it's going to become my travel machine)
