Humidifier Leaking- Rescan

Post by JOMOMA » Fri Jan 23, 2009 10:08 pm

I have the Rescan 8 autoset with humidifier. After taking it apart the first time to clean the reservoir I have had problems with it leaking when I fill it. I always place it in my machine then pour in the water and it starts flowing out the two holes in the bottom. I need to snap the lid down quickly then mop up under the machine. Any ideas on how to prevent this?

Two holes in the bottom? What two holes in the bottom? There shouldn't be ANY holes in the bottom of the Humidaire 3i water tank.

For one thing I never fill my water tank whilst it is nestled on the heating plate. I carry it to my bathroom sink where I have a bottle of distilled water stored under the sink and a small kitchen funnel which I use to fill the tank.

You will note on the very front of the tank is a jagged blue line w/MAX printed on the right end. You should never fill the tank above that line.

The top of the tank itself does have three holes on its top side but that is way above the Maximum fill line.

After filling the tank I then set it back on the heating plate and put the cover down and snap close it securely. I've never had a leak (knock, Knock, KNOCK) and my Humidaire 3i tank has seen 27 months of nightly use.

Lookslike I have a defective unit. If I fill mine even an inch it flows water out the bottom. I'll be calling my DME on Monday to get a replacement.

Now that I think about it .....check, keep an eye on your EOB when it arrives to see if they have billed your insurance for the replacement and "waived" any copay you might have in the hopes you won't be aware they billed for the replacement. IF you have to sign anything be sure to make a notation you've returned the unit for two holes in the bottom leaking. (I'm such a cynic when it comes to local DME suppliers).
