JNK, I have become quit a militant cpap'er.

Each person of OSA has to find their way.
I still don't know how is the best way to help.

I went back and looked long and hard again....and....
it could also be a desperate call for help.

I agree, people generally use PostSecret to say things they can't find a way to say in person or to get things off their chest, I don't think he's trying to do subtle 2x4 therapy at all.

Rightfully so, I say. Some thing require a measure of militance.

I hear that can be important. Working on that myself!

I think you've helped a lot of people find their way and have been more helpful than you know.

Few things are worse than anonymous desperation.

Your phrases have a way of sticking in my head for days and making me think, carbonman. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the phrase "subtle use of 2X4 therapy."

True. ....and in the dark of the night, alone in our minds, we all face life
in anonymous desperation, to some degree. That measure of desperation
being gauged by this "art" on postsecret to dialogue on this forum.

There it is....the living wisdom of your tag line.

Hi folks,
Gosh! If this were my first day, I'd be appauled and join a different site immediately (and yes, I know, that's just my own personal preference) because I find that PostCard or whatever terminology I'm suppose to use- very offensive! Where did Fatfeminist get it? What was it attached to? Is that type of language/topic not bad enough to be banned from our site? I've only been on here less than a month but find you all very knowledgeable, empathetic, great to not use profanity for those of us who don't like it, you are also great to answer all the 'details' we newbies request and, in general, you are all professional in your manner. So, where does something like this fit in? Does it happen regularily?
Thanks in advance,
Crossfit Junkie

Crossfit Junkie,

I may not fully understand your questions and observations, but I'll attempt to address them anyway. Please pardon me if my words miss the point of your post.

As for what the site PostSecret is all about, you may want to look it up at Wikipedia. Fatfeminist didn't "get" anything from there; she noticed something posted at that site, something that mentioned CPAP. As is often "regularly" done here, she brought that fact to this board's attention so that if any wanted to be aware of it, they could click the link to the location of that card.

Some sites on the Internet, especially "art" sites, contain material people may find objectionable. I personally appreciated knowing about the CPAP-related card that was posted there, but I understand completely if others would prefer not to know about such things on such sites. I respect that choice and recommend being careful when clicking on links.

By the way, my observation from my six months here is that not everyone who posts here is "very knowledgeable" or "professional." But I'm OK with that. I have found that occcasionally the language and subject matter does not mesh completely with my personal tastes. Yet I still prefer this message board to other tightly moderated, less-likely-to-be-offensive boards, such as apneasupport.org.

Hope that helps.

jeff

You're welcome, Deidre.

Sometimes third-party responses are easier.

D, I'm glad you posted, just as you did.
I am always surprised by the discussions that are sparked here.
For me, this forum is part of the total cpap experience.

Viewing that postsecret is part of the cpap experience, also.
I think the reactions and discussions that the "art" has provoked
only point to the volitility of OSA. We are dealing w/life and death choices.

For me, it was very important to see, because it amplifies how grateful
I am that I was diagnosed, and that I have been successful w/my therapy.

Thanks!

Well heck, let's post the postsecret card. When you click on FatFeminist's link you see many cards. Maybe there is some confusion about which one we are talking about.

I would switch it around to say, "I would rather wear my CPAP mask every minute I sleep, than suffer poor health and die prematurely."

Pad A Cheek could help the guy.
