Why you should use your CPAP

Post by rejoicem56 » Sat Jan 24, 2009 2:07 pm

I got a email from a friend of mine whose husband is a new cpap user. He went last week for his first check-up. He was told he stopped breathing 89 times in 1 hr plus his reparations was only 63. He had heart by-pass last years. The doctor told him IF he had been using the cpap earlier in his life he would not have had to have the heart surgery.!!! Now if that does not make you know that this is important I don't know what would. I still struggle with my mask an leaks but I do use it every night. Once in a while I will wake up with it off but from the posts in here I see that is not all that uncommon. I have learned alot in here an do enjoy the posts even if I don't always understand all I read. Blessings,Melinda

Yes, and just think about how many people are out there undiagnosed, resulting in continuing damage to their heart and overall health every night they sleep with untreated sleep apnea. I doubt we even know how many premature deaths are due to untreated OSA. I count myself among the lucky!
