This is a solution to the software driver download issue for using ResScan 3/7 on Vista Laptops!!!!!! Click on Start\Control Panel\Device Manager click continue if User Account Control message appears. There should be a "Smart card readers" entry in the Device Manager window. Click on the + symbol to expand the entry and note that it should show "ACR38 Smart Card Reader" without any yellow exclamation marks showing. If this entry does show the exclamation mark then the driver is not being recognised and needs to be re-installed using the following steps.

Right click on the "ACR38 Smart Card Reader" entry and in the new window left click on the top line "Update Driver Software", new window "Update Driver Software" window will open with two choices, "Search automatically..." and "Browse my computer...". Select the second choice and a browse button is displayed. Press the browse button and in the "Browse for Folder" window locate the CD drive which will be under the Computer entry (expand if necessary) and will show the ResScan symbol and the words ResScan V3.7 or similar. If necessary expand this entry and go to "program files", expand this and go to ResMed, expand this and go to ResScan3, expand this and go to Drivers, expand this and go to Data Card, expand this and go to Drivers, expand this and go to USB, expand this and go to Vista32 and highlight this and then click OK. This will now populate the "Update Driver Software" window to the left of the Browse button. Now click "Next" and the window will indicate that it is searching for the driver for the ACR38 and installing and if all is well will display "Windows has successfully updated your driver software", now click on the "Close" button and check the Device Manager screen and the yellow exclamation mark should be removed from the "ACR38 Smart Card Reader" entry. Close window and reboot PC and test.
