Too many farkles!

Post by sam1234 » Wed Jan 21, 2009 11:34 pm

With my new machine, I seem to be adding more accessories than I would have ever considered for my past machines.

One thing in common with all of my machines is a humidifier.

The two latter machines have heated humidifiers.

I have recently added to the new machine:
a DC-12 converter
a card reader and rescan software

When will it end?

Options such as hose warmers, covers, etc. are available.

Perhaps a pinstripe would be the next best accessory.

The fact remains that people that are self pay will get only what is necessary and those with the full on insurance will get whatever they can get there hands on, and make as many medical appointments as time will allow.

I have full insurance, fortunately. However, that insurance doesn't pay for things like a hose cover or manager, nor for a battery back-up which I consider essential in hurricane country.

And, I don't know about you, but I have better things to do with my time than sit and twiddle my thumbs in doctors' offices. Unless, of course, there's a problem I can't solve on my own. Then I'll go prepared to make use of the specialist's knowledge. But I won't seek them out unless such a problem exists because I've learned that I'm the one who has to live in this body and I know it better than anyone.

I'm all for adding whatever it is that makes XPAP therapy work for you. Some of these things you may be able to make yourself also and save some money like hose covers or cheek pads. If it keeps you continuing your therapy then it was a good investment to my way of thinking.

A half a yard of polarfleece will make you all the hose covers and cheek pads you could ever need.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

I understand that some are self-pay and others have insurance that covers the essential items. It's the extras that aren't covered by insurance that seem interesting.

Before this machine, a Resmed Autoset II, I wouldn't have considered any additional items that the insurance wouldn't cover. I now have a card reader and software, a DC-12 Converter, even distilled water!

I have always used filtered or tap water before this machine in my humidifiers.

I found myself the other night considering other things, such as a hose warmer, different pillows and yes.... pinstripes or flames.
I have not needed or even desired such items before. I have been using a CPAP for over 12 years.
