Hi all, sorry I am using this forum to ask others out there about Provigl, but as it is slightly related and I can't seem to find ANY forums on Provigil specifically...
question: when side effects hit you, if ever.
I took the pill (200mg) at 10:30AM Thursday. Felt pretty good, I described it as though I was behaving like I was on a stimulant, but didn't feel like I was on one.
Everything was fine, I was happy.
Went to bed, with the CPAP at usual time of about 1AM that night, at 4:30AM and was quite sick.
I got sick and now I feel fine, so I doubt it is a coincidence and I actually have the flu or something. I NEVER get sick to my stomach, so I am sure it was the Provigil. But shouldn't it have been out of my system by now?
Provigil users, when have you noticed side effects?
Thanks
Quest

Hi Quest,
I'm so sorry you got sick...that's no fun!
Why don't you read the information sheet that came with the Provigil so you can learn about the side effects. I personally don't have any trouble with Provigil. I take 200 mg. when I wake up. If I'm extremely sleepy during the day, I sometimes take another one around noon. I've never been nauseous or anything else from it. I thought it only hung around in your system for about 4 hrs. but I could be totally wrong about that. You could call your pharmacist to see if the vomitting could be associated with the Provigil (they're the experts on drugs). I would also try it again and see if you have the same reaction.
Good luck!
Amy

yeah, unfortunately, the nausea is a listed side effect, but I figured that I had made it the whole day without a noticable side effect, I was doing well.
I will try it again today, and will only re-consider it if the nausea doesn't stop. Especially at 4AM!! However, any other info from people regarding "delayed" reactions would be a great help. I don't like being surprised.
Maybe I'll take stock in pepto bismol.
My pharmacist reacted about the same as a normal DME answer: "Well it's different for different people." Lotta help there.
thanks for the feedback Yawn.

You may want to try lowering your dose to start for a few days. My sleep doctor recomended starting at 50-100mg per day for 4-5 days, then 100-150 for a few more days until I got up to 200mg. After a month he added another 200mg dose as needed. I had no side effects to speak of doing it this way plus it lets you see if a lower dose would work as well as a higher dose. I usually take 200mg first thing in the morning (only 100mg if its going to be a really quiet- bum around the house kind of day). If I notice I am still really tired before noon or I know I have very long day with not so good sleep the night before I take the second 200mg.
I was thinking about that. The pills are 200mg, they have a mark to split them, do you know if I can split them in half. I know some pills aren't supposed to be cut.
So far I am feeling a little bit queezy as the day goes on, I've taken some maalox, but only time will tell. It wasn't until 4:30AM that I got sick last night.
I think I will try 100mg tomorrow.
THanks

Thanks, good to know they can be split.
Unfortunately it seems as though today's side effect is headache. I've had a mild/moderate headache msot of the day. I suffer from migraines, so headaches will be a deal breaker to taking Provigil if they continue.
I didn't feel as though the 200mg worked as much as the first two days, so we'll see if I need to take more. I'd kind of like to keep it at 200mg until the side effects go away.
Well, here's to trying to go to sleep and staying asleep till the morning!
Thanks all.

Hi Quest
Talkaboutsleep has a many forums, and one of them is a narcolepsy forum.

I've never read anything in that forum, but I thought you might find additional provigil info there.
