Resmed S8 elite II

Post by slacker361 » Mon Jan 19, 2009 2:02 pm

Code: Select all

I just got my Resmed S8 elite II and I cant wait to goto sleep tonight. I had the old S6 that I used for 6 years ( i Guess my doctor didnt like me ) since he gave me the S6. I am a pilot and the FAA needs to have comfirmation that I use my cpap all the time. Well as most of you know my S6 doesnt store data, and is as loud as heck. My insurance company wouldnt pay for a new cpap machine since it was only six years old, I thought about dropping it out the window, but figured I would get in trouble. So I purchased one from cpap.com got the whole bundle, still waiting on the data card reader as they are on back order.

But just testing out the new machine, holy cpap batman, this is a nice machine with the EPR, I know some of you have had the old machines, breathing against the pressure, what a difference with the epr. Ans the noise , what hoise is there with the S8, my wife is not going to belive how quiet it is, I cant beleive how quiet it is, probrobly wont be able to sleep from it being so quiet. anyways I just had to join the forum and spout off because I am so excited about the new machine. Cant wait to see the data on my nights sleep, and to shove the results to the FAA, why wouldnt I wear it , it makes me feel great vs feeling crappy. But I guess there are some out there that dont wear the device for one reason or another.

Ok off my soap box now, glad to be here.

I am new to CPAP and was issued the ResMed S8 AutoSet II with EPR. Since I have nothing to compare it to I can attest that this machine similiar to yours works for me very well in every respect.
What kind of software and card reader did you order with your machine? I am looking to get a cardreader and software for my AutoSet II.

Like i said I cant wait to go to sleep tonight, Hope it gives me good results during my sleep.

Slacker361,

I see that you are a pilot also. I just started CPAP on Dec. 31, 2008. Went to AOPA web site to see what I had to do as far as reporting and getting info for the AME. Is it much of a hassel? I too am thinking about getting the software just to see that I'm making progress. It looks from your post that I need the data to give to the AME. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

YEah get a data recording machine. I think the software will help, as I am sure the feds are going to want to see an on going compliance. I had lost my medical for six years and just got it back, but somehow they missed the apena problem so since my last machine didnt do any recording of compliance, I will prob have to do a wakeful mainteaance test, which will just be a pain in the butt plus more $$$$$$.

Also get with a good AME, not one that will shoot you in the foot if something minor comes up. Just my 2 cents.....good luck, you will feel much better after being on your cpap
