SLEEP APNEA, CPAP AND NIGHT SHIFTS

Post by dilligat » Mon Jan 19, 2009 8:18 pm

I am on CPAP for my sleep apnea and have started to work nights again on a trial basis.
My shift pattern is 2 morning shifts, 2 afternoon shifts, 2 night shifts and 4 days off. I have been told by the sleep clinic there's no reason I cannot work nights but that my sleep during the day will not be of the same quality as my night time sleep.
Do others on here work nights and if so how have you found sleeping after them and what effects do working nights have on you?

I don't understand why any employer wants their employees to rotate shifts like that. To me it's totally unproductive and causes employees to make more mistakes. Employees are always in a stupor with schedules like that.

Last time I had to do that I volunteered for straight midnites just so I could be on a steady shift.

I takes my body about a month to get used to any shift change.

Gumby is right. That is a killer shift whether you have sleep apnea or not. A person of normal health will not sleep well with a schedule like that.

Good luck dealing with it,

I have a vision that we will figure out an easy way to ensure that children develop wide, deep, healthy and attractive jaws and then obstructive sleep apnea becomes an obscure bit of history.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ycw4uaX ... re=related
