Is it still possible........

Post by TheShootist » Mon Jan 19, 2009 12:31 pm

Good afternoon all

I have been on CPAP for six months now and have never slept better!!! I had no problems adjusting to sleeping with a FF or any of the other common problems that seem to come up. The only thing extra that I do is the old reliable blue painters tape to keep my mouth shut.

My question to everyone is......Is it still possible (with everything I described)to still be snoring? I sleep alone, so I can't ask a bedmate. My daughter who is 13 and wise above her years was the one that got me to go to a sleep study in the first place. She told me yesterday morning that she thought she had heard me snoring once again (but not as bad as before life with CPAP). I'm thinking she was hearing the CPAP maching and not me.

Does anyone have any input for me? If it is me snoring once again, does anyone have any advice for me to remedy this? I hate to think I am going backwards in my CPAP therapy.

Thank you everyone........

My Auto machine had shown I was snoring on a few occasions .. and I adjusted the pressure accordingly and have not had an episode since.

Do you have the software to check your "performance? I highly recommend it. It will record VS, "vibratory snores" (and of course apneas, hypopneas, leak).

It is possable to be snoring again, snoring is a symption of sleep apnea but is caused by other things too such as loss of firmness in tissue in your airway along with congestion.

It pays to have the software and reader so you can better tell if you need to make changes. Congrats for taking your daughters warning to heart, you have made a big step. Check your P.M.. Jim

You need to enable P.M. in your profile.

Of course.
Do you have the Encore software? (Pro or Viewer.....and the card reader)
If you did, you'd be able to SEE how your therapy is working.
On the other hand, snoring is not necessarily an indication that your therapy is not working. You can still have snoring and a low AHI.....I did in my first year. If your mouth is sealed (and it sounds like it is), it could be nasal snoring. The machines pick this up and record it. Possible solutions are to do a nasal rinse/cleansing before bedtime and/or increase the machine pressure a bit.

My GF says she can hear me snore every so often. She says just for a second and no where near as loud as before the CPAP. The reports would show it about 3 times a night or so depending on how tired i really was.

Additional Comments: Also use the AirMini for travel, I'm using the For Her version cause it was a lot cheaper to buy!

How about getting a voice activated tape recorder? It would only record when you make a noise, and you could hear for yourself.
