HI,
I started CPAP therapy two years ago and was a happy camper once I found the Swift. I have been unable to use my machine for months because of ear pain (that's in another post). Anyhow the ENT suggested that I block one nostril while using the mask to keep the air from being pumped right into my troubled ear. The thing is that I cannot see being able to do that with the Swift and even if I could, I don't know if I would feel that I was getting enough air through one nostril only.
This made me reconsider getting a full face mask. I tried them ALL two years ago and could not find one that wouldn't leak into my left eye, same thing with nasal masks, but the leak is worse in the FF, as there is more room to leak. I have a small face. I have not yet tried a hybrid, so I may look into that. BTW I would love the Swift LT for women!
All that to say, what has changed in full face masks in the past year?
what's new FF masks?
Re: what's new FF masks?
Can't say it's changed but the Soyala full face mask that gave me fits a year ago is now my everyday mask. It doesn't pull my chin back like the UMF...the soyala took me a lot of experimenting to figure out how to fit it correctly but now it's my favorite mask.
Re: what's new FF masks?
I've just got this mask. Over here it's called the Joyce and the headgear is slightly different. After 9 months on CPAP and numerous masks I'm still trying to find something that doesn't leak after a couple of hours and is comfortable. Some nights I just give up and end up sleeping without it, though it's not from the want of trying. I devote at least an hour everyday to troubleshoot and try potential fixes. My nose has posed a real problem for all full face masks, it's fairly large and it was broken back in my twenties resulting in a kink on the bridge. Nothing has managed to seal on the nose and I end up with eye leaks. I've spent the past couple of days experimenting with the Soyala/Joyce. I haven't worn it through the night yet but it does look very promising if a little tricky to setup correctly. A lot of thought has gone into this mask, good teutonic engineering. The little tabs on the upper part of the seal appears to grip the seal much better against my nose. As well as the standard cushion we also have the option of a gel cushion, and the standard cushion with chin cup.

Re: what's new FF masks?
For me sitting the top straps high on my head with the lower straps angled up has done the trick. Nose contact is much higher up than I used to set it and the lower part of the mask just does come down over my lower lip instead of in the middle of my chin. It's very comfortable now and seems to seal nicely. Good luck

Did you try the Hans Rudolph?
I would also suggest sleeping on the side of the affected ear.
My hubby does this and it really helps his ear.
