hey everybody just thought i would drop back in to say hi after my hiatus. i'm still alive and breathing, have a family now and finally got a new machine using my fsa and the nice people at cpap.com.
i have a new m series auto with aflex, and also tried the comfort gel full and that turned out to be a bitter disappointment, works okay i guess but more tricky to get a good seal, went back to the cf2 for right now until i can figure something out with the gel one.
i'm still trying to figure out why i am still feeling tired during the during the day, i thought my old machine was not working properly or something and i was not getting good therapy, i would have liked to check out the smart card with encore pro but last year my old xp puter died after getting updated to sp3 whenever it was that the update came out, and my new computer is a vista os. so i didn't know if it would work, besides i lost everything on the old one and i couldn't find my encore pro disc anymore, after moving twice you tend to lose little things like that, lol.
anyways, of course my new m series has the readout on the LCD and so far after 2 nights on it my ahi average is 1.3, so i know it should be working properly, for all intents and purposes that probably means my old machine was still working properly as well. but yet i still get bouts of daytime sleepiness, especially when driving for more than 20-30 minutes, i do this alot since i am in home health hospice so driving is part of the job. so am i missing something? i sleep an average of 6-8 hours on work nights, and on the weekends i tend to sleep for over 9 hours. but i still wake up feeling like i hardly rested. i am almost at the end of my rope, i don't know what else to try. anybody have some insight into this and what may be the problem? thanks in advance, and sorry for the book.

Re: hello again,
lol i was thinking about that with a pressure of 17 or so but this morning when i got up the machine was giving me 19.1, lol. so i dunno if 17 would be a good choice or not as a single pressure.

You won't know till you try.....RedThunder94 wrote:lol i was thinking about that with a pressure of 17 or so but this morning when i got up the machine was giving me 19.1, lol. so i dunno if 17 would be a good choice or not as a single pressure.
But, in reality, we get used to our pressures.....and if it was at 19, you've already been sleeping with a higher pressure than 17.
Changing pressures during the night can subconsciously keep (many of) us from getting good, deep sleep. There are quite a few people here that have tried ranges of pressures and then switched to single pressure for better sleep. I started out at single pressure, then got an Auto and tried a range and kept waking up during the nights......and went back to straight pressure. Just because you HAVE an Auto, doesn't mean you have to run it that way. Leaks and snores drive them crazy and once you start leaking, it can become a self-feeding frenzy.
