I am approaching one year on the "hose". After an initial diagnosis of "as severe as it gets", with an AHI of 118, I dove into therapy. My initial ignorance resulted in the first machine, the M-Series Plus. My sleep doc would not even discuss a data capable machine, dismissing them as highly innacurate at best. My primary doc was completely supportive however, and understood the advantages. I acquired a M-Series Pro, card reader and Encore Viewer and went to work. I found my major issue was chasing leaks. Once that was under control my therapy took another positive leap forward. I bought a third machine in November, a M-Series Auto with C-Flex. I was ready to buy the A-Flex model, but a deal appeared on a new, zero hour C-Flex unit, so I jumped on it. A C-Flex setting of 1 has worked great for me, so I was not concerned about the lack of A-Flex.
For those of you just starting this journey, listen carefully to the wisdom of those on this board. Without this group, I might still be tied to the Sleep Clinic, still trying to tweak a non-data capable machine. I especially want to thank Rested Gal, whose suggestions about Auto settings led to my best therapy to date.
While I do not plan to utilize my original Sleep Doc again, I did find that the RT in his office is receptive to my therapy management. Once I told her I was working with my family doc, and was managing my own therapy, she showed great interest, and wants to see my reports occasionally. I still use that office for masks, headgear, etc. I plan to let her see reports when I go in for mask replacements.
