Using the bypass attachment for remstar

Post by twocents » Thu Jan 08, 2009 4:33 pm

I have a colonoscopy scheduled for the end of the month. I have been told to bring my machine with me. To forestall an accidental flooding of the machine I am going to use the humidifier bypass attachment that came with it.
Sound like a good idea? I think I know where it goes: I am curious as to how it actually works.

It might be easier and better to just forgo using the humidifier for the procedure.

Is your machine an M series? If so, removing the machine from the heated humidifier and installing the outlet fitting would be a good idea for short time use during the procedure..

Which leads me to the question: I think I leave the empty tank in the machine, turn it off, and put in the bypass piece.
sound ok?

I am assuming you have an M series machine. There are 2 ways to not have water. You can make sure your humidifier tank is empty and dry and just hook up your hose normally. If you do this just make sure the HH is turned off and again empty and dry. You can also take the machine off from the complete HH setup. If you do this you have a smaller unit to carry with you to the doctor's office. If you you remove the whole humidifier then you must install the outlet fitting on the back of the machine in order to have a place to connect the hose.
