confused on the encore software for my M-series Auto machine

Post by abinder » Mon Dec 29, 2008 11:53 pm

I want to get software for my M-series auto CPAP machine. I see people posting about Encore Pro software and Encore Viewer software. What's the pluses and minuses for both? I have Vista installed on the computer that I'll be using to analyze the data from my CPAP machine. It seems like there's been postings saying that the software does and doesn't work with Vista.

What's the best source to get the software and the card reader?

Thanks for any info and suggestions.

Allen

Encore Pro is only available to Doctors. Encore Viewer is the version sold to patients and end-users.

Den? Quick question, I've found...
" Encore SmartCard Reader - USB This product is only the SmartCard Reader. EncoreViewer 1.0 is required to download and analyze data from the SmartCard. The picture shows driver software for the reader. This driver software is no longer shipped with the readers since the drivers are included with the EncoreViewer 1.0 software. "
It's priced at $59, as opposed to $200. Is there issues here that I'm not seeing?
I have the Encore Pro software and am trying to get hold of my treatment due to idiot DME's that I had to show how to read my results last visit.
As always, thank you.
Virt

Virt,

The smartcard installation software and drivers are included on the Encore Viewer and Encore Pro CDs. The Encore Pro v 1.8 and Encore Viewer CDs also have the appropriate drivers to work with MS Vista (if that's an issue).

Hope that helps.

Ok thanks. I was concerned that I may be buying something that was lacking. Not real sure why there is such a large price discrepancy, but hey! I'll take the $150 in savings

Virt one is just the card reader - the other is the reader AND software. You can download the driver online for free.

Virt - what part of WA? I live in Gray's Harbor County.

If you have encore pro you just need the card reader. Th DT3500 is USB - this is a vendor many have used - in California. There is another online DME that is cheaper than cpap.com too but name escapes me right now - but this place is in the 50's with shipping last I heard.

There is a Tacoma area contingency on the board I know. Babette is their "ring leader".

I have a BIL who lives between Rainier and Yelm.

You show a Pro 2 machine in your profile. Encore Pro 1.4 or later will cover you unless you are running Vista. You need XP for 1.5 or later I think it is. You might be able to use 1.3 for the Pro 2. I run 1.4 myself with XP. For Vista you need EP 1.8 or Encore Viewer

First thing first, you need to find out exactly what equiptment you are using and put it in your profile in text, not icony, so we will know what you use and how. Right now what you have listed in ICONNY, doesn't work together. Jim

That explains the Viewer, but not Pro. Also, the price seems to be a bit steep. I purchased the Viewer software and reader for 139.00.

I am even more confused by this thread! I understand that I need Encore Viewer software and the Encore Smart Card Reader. What is my least expensive way of being able to be in control of my sleep data? It seems like $199 is the standard bundled price. But one poster paid $139 and someone else paid $59. What am I not getting about the differences? Sorry for being a bit dense!

Debjax -- where did you make your purchase?

Do you have them in hand to know that it was the bundled package of Viewer and card reader?

Thanks.

another online vendor sells the bundle for $ 139 last I knew - google encore viewer and for me at least that is the first post (sponsored link) - cpap.com does price match so you can ask them to match

$59 seems more on the order of the card reader price such as secure tech see my link above - or bucko has another site he posted in Asia that will ship to the states - there is another online DME that sells the reader for under $ 50 but I don't know what the shipping charges are - google DT3500

there are people who have obtained encore pro - how can we say this - well, they didn't buy it but got it from someone else or off some questionable download site

I hope this is as clear as mud
