What settings should I ask to have on my apap?
Are my apneas made worse when the pressure goes up? If so, why does the pressure go up that high?

Re: Almost 2 years and no better sleep
I would review your sleep study with your doctor and others to figure out what would be the good setting. Also a lot of times they will do it at the sleep study or have you come back. After about a month I was having problems and we reviewed the data and he agreed to change it to the lowest setting and let the machine do the ramp up. In Sept. 08 I had another sleep study and the numbers were well below and did not need the machine since I have the dental device.

Does your sleep doctor look at your results?
Make sure you have the card it the machines to the the results get recorded on it.
Can you post your charts - or have someone help you do it?

I would suggest setting it in CPAP mode at a pressure of 6 and see what the numbers look like.
It APPEARS that way (from the numbers), but without seeing detailed reports, it's difficult to see what's happening and when.
Again, without seeing reports, it's hard to pull a reason out of thin air......but leaks and snores will definitely cause pressure increases. Sometimes it becomes a "chicken & egg" question.....which came first.....the events or the pressure increases. There can be instances where they become a self-feeding frenzy......and in the process can wreck one's sleep.

Re: Almost 2 years and no better sleep
Hi. I get much better sleep with my CPAP and my AHI is very low and mask fits fine and doesn't leak yadda yadda, but I still continue to have sleep attacks during the day. I wake up feeling great and a couple hours later can't stay awake. I take a nap and get and then a couple hours after that same thing all over again. Some days I wake up tired even when the machine is reporting everything is great and when I felt I slept great. I'm getting a test to try and see if I have narcolepsy, but I guess there could be a million other reasons. Plus the sleep doctor told me some people with apnea just never feel better even after good treatment with the machine. I only keep using it because I do seem to sleep better at night, but it has done nothing at all to improve my quality of life.jomac30 wrote:I've been on cpap and apap. Should I try bipap next?
I don't get good sleep. Still tired all day. Don't know if its the machine or the masks. I've tried quite a few masks including nasal pillows, nasal masks, full face, and simple cushions.
I'd try a dental device but my sleep doc says they don't do any good.
Any suggestions?
Re: Almost 2 years and no better sleep
Without any information about your equipment or pressures it's hard to comment. However, the biggest problem that people run into is that they're using a nasal mask and leaking air out their mouth. That basically nullifies their therapy.Guest wrote:Hi.
