Which machine to buy?

Post by mikebomb » Fri Aug 05, 2005 2:52 pm

My current CPAP machine is a RemStar Lite. It is okay, but it does not give me any information about effectiveness of therapy, leaks, etc. It is very good for me for the Sabbath and Jewish holidays as its simplicity means that I can leave it on for days at a time and that its operation is not affected by my putting on or taking off the mask.

For the rest of the time, however, I am looking for a decent machine that will not cost too much money and will give me insight into my OSA therapy. I would like to know, for instance, if I still have obstructions, if my mask is leaking, etc. In general, I want to know if my therapy is effective and how effective it is.

Which machine would you suggest I buy, and why?

If money and size is no concern get the respironics auto .

If $ and small size matter get the GK420E .

Purchase from cpap.com.

Beware of the EVIL DME

Small size, okay, but I cannot call the GK420E cheap at $619 with software.

You ould always buy it from your DME if you don't like cpap.com prices.

Hi Mike
The Good Knight 420S + software gives you the same info that a 420E does. Being a straight PAP machine (not self adjusting) it's somewhat cheaper.

If you search CPAP.com you'll see that all the software packages have a price. IMHO the price it worth it.

(IMO)I know $600 & $700 is a lot of money. But you sleep 1/3 of your life. To me that price is nothing when it comes to comfort and being able to monitor your sleep apnea. I have bought for myself and my wife and my father a RemStar auto with Cflex and would do it again. I do not have a lot of money but it was worth it to me. Chrisp gave you excellent advice.Buy here and do not put up with all the trouble you will have with a DME. Both machines are excellent the remstar auto and the 420E. if you could try one of these machines, I do not think you would ever use your old cpap again. If you do miss your old machine you can always turn your auto into a straight cpap

just my .02 cents
