Since I was caught in the economic crunch and have a lot more time to peruse the forum, I have concluded that this design is good for those with a lot of time on their hands. Now it feels like sittin around the pot bellied stove at the ole hardware store, comfortable.

Conversely, if I went to that hardware store looking for a gizmo to stop the water now flooding my house I would be frustrated walking up and down each isle when I know what I need but can't find it. That's what scanning through all the posts with nondescript subjects is like.

I don't have a dog in this fight, largely because I just don't care which format is used. But it seems to me that the writers of forum software have a very easy fix for this, if they would just implement it. They could allow some sort of subject selection from a list when creating a new post (with misc as the default if none is selected). Then they could allow users to set their preferences to separate post threads into subjects (AKA forums) if they wish, or keep them all in one forum, if that is their preference. I don't know why this hasn't been done, because it can't be very hard.

I'm sure some people would still find reasons to complain, though.

Jambo,

Thanks for posting your idea. I will have to side with the "keep it as it is" group. Generally, my philosophy is, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Also, it must be acknowledged that this board exists due to the courtesy of our gracious hosts at Cpap.com, and that any and all changes and maintenence and upgrades to the site must be performed by their staff, taking time away from other business duties. So if it isn't state of the art, at least it gets the job done, and is deserving of our thanks and consideration towards them for providing the venue. There is something to be said for the free for all, all opinions (certainly including yours) welcome type of format.

Haven't you been told to stop bullying the newbies with this nonsense? Keep your mouth shut. Your opinions will be given to your from now on. Put your eggs and tomatoes away, and let the newbies speak. We welcome all of their ideas!

1. No, I haven't.

2. My mouth WAS shut, I used my fingers to type.

3. I'm allergic to eggs, don't like tomatoes, and I encourage all newbies to post. Thats what the forum is all about. If you are new to the therapy and this forum, please post any and all questions. The open format means that any and all are welcome, and this means you. If you are new to CPAP and OSA, you are probably feeling overwhelmed, uncertain and unhappy about having to deal with OSA. Everyone who has been here for a while has gone through that and wants to help you succeed, and is happy to give up some time to that end. The questions/suggestions/ranting/complaining/whining lamp is always lit, and newbies are always welcome.

4. BB, grace and peace and joy be upon you.

jambo101 wrote:Great forum for cpap information Thanks for the info, but from a newbs perspective i think its time to put some different sections in the forum so people can readily access the particular info they are looking for concerning the various aspects of cpap usage. Also an off topic section would be handy for those who are here for unrelated cpap reasons such as accumulating a vast collection of post counts or posting the latest online humor etc.
Jambo bwana. Asante sana? (Hello sir. How are you?) Sorry, that's all the Swahili I remember from my travels.

The info from this great forum has helped me tremendously. Every time a problem crops up I either make a post or lurk and find the answers I need. Almost every time I read the forum, I learn something I didn't know.

There is one thing that I wish the forum had, (pause to put on my flak jacket and helmet). On another forum I frequent you can put the stylus over the subject and the first 5 lines of the post come up. (You have to wiggle the stylus to keep it there long enough to read.) This way you can see if you would be interested in reading the whole post or just go on to the next one.

Below is the forum-

http://www.trailerlife.com/cforum/index ... s/forum/24

I just took a course this morning on making my own Web Site. (many of you have done this already)

I'm going to make one and post it so those who are interested can read all that I have learned in my first 6 months of treatment. I do it in the spirit of giving back to all the people who have shared their knowledge with me. (It's also very good for the psyche to "talk" to others who share the same problems.

Well guess what newbie? you sorry SOB's the world don't revolve around you. Your mother may have waited on you hand and foot, but we don't do that crap here, we only help those that wanting and willing to help themselves.

but those of us that like it here are sick and tired of hearing about all your damn whining and complaining wacked out messages like that
dumbass MusicMan and ballbuster, same asshole with a different name. You guys should have saved your money on the machine and got your friggin head examined you could have had money left over to feed your fat ass at McDonalds.

Grow some balls and act like an adult or get hell out of here as we don't need your whiny ass. IF you think we are going to wait on you like your mother boy have you got your damn head screwed on backwards.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

WOW is right! They must be neighbors of SnoreDog's, He seems to know their pedigree. Personally I didn't know they were AKC registered. Jim

As far as finding posts on specific topics I have been able to find relevant posts by typing various words relating to the topic I am interested in into the "Search" field .

I am a newbie and have no problems with this forum as it is. It certainly is the most active forum on SA and the "old timers" are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Yup, Snoredog, you continue to impress us all that you are truly a guy with a lot of class. And all by yourself with no assistance from anyone, you have yet again clearly established yourself in the very same category with those who you attack, degrade, belittle, admonish, accuse, and attempt to drive away because you are apparently so threatened. Neither of you seems to get that you are seriously diminished by your own venom. Nor do your cheerleaders.

Um, Snoredog's post supposed to be funny? How did you know to interpret it that way? I certainly don't see anything to indicate humor....
