Respironics SleepEasy System
Respironics SleepEasy System
Anyone know anything about this device?
RESPIRONICS, Murrysville, Pa, offers the SleepEasy® sleep therapy system. Sleek and small, SleepEasy looks less like a medical device and more like a natural part of a patient's bedroom. The SleepEasy system was built on the concepts of value, quality, and ease of use. Features include a built-in humidifier, deluxe ramp capabilities with a patient-adjustable ramp start pressure, lighted control buttons, and a pressure calibration screen that allows target pressures to be set within 0.1 cm H2O. The unit also has three-position altitude compensation, quiet operation, and a data display so patients can call their provider to report compliance information.
Yeah, I know, it sounds like a bottom of the barrel system. There's a picture at
http://www.rtmagazine.com/issues/articl ... -06_08.asp
It doesn't look at all like the the "Legacy" (tank) series or the M Series; it looks like a much more sensible integrated humidifier (also looks it still has that dang power brick *sigh*). I was just wondering if it is the first in what we've heard some scuttlebutt was to be a new series of Respironics devices??
Or do I have egg on my face and this device has been available for ages?? I tend to think not since this info is from a June 2008 issue that also has info on Covidien's Sandman Intro and DeVilBiss IntelliPAP AutoAdjust.

Re: Respironics SleepEasy System
This has been available most of this year for sure. I looked at it and thought it was a nice concept and looked like a small version of the tank. I then read the specs and figured out it is a smaller version of the chaepest tank. A bottom of the line machine that is cheap to make but is "new" and enables the most profit. It should cost $199! Not https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... chine.html !
Maybe it is the first of a replacement for the M-series. If it is I like the look of it. If it is quieter and all data issues are fixed and no blue buttons and a backlit lcd than it could be a neat little machine. But this first one is way overpriced and looks like it is aimed to maximize profit while staying within what most insurance companies will pay.

Here ya go, been available for some time, cpap.com has them for sale, way too expensive for what you get,
seems it was designed for those arrogant doctors who don't want you to know anything about your sleep other
than compliance.
Maybe it is the Mayonnaise machine?
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... chine.html
There is NOTHING here to lead me to believe that Respironics actually designed a machine with the patient in mind, I bet there is no backlight on the LCD, but the humidifier design is GREAT in my opinion, like the old tank was. Holds plenty of water, hose comes out the top/front instead of back of the machine (how stupid was that).
Probably has all the features of the 420G, I don't even think it has Cflex. At $669, Respironics is dreaming, but there will always be a sucker out there somewhere to buy one. If you didn't need/like Cflex and just straight CPAP it wouldn't be bad. It does have Ramp.
Respironics is sorta like GM currently is, they don't have a clue.

Its the one the DME brought me when I didn't know any better and its definately bottem of the barrel.
I'm now awaiting an autopap with cflex and fully data compatable after fighting with the doctor and then the un kinowledgeable dme.

Slinky
What catches my attention immediately (apart from how nice it looks) is that it can be adjusted to within 0.1 CMs of pressure. That is a 1st as far as I am aware.
I had always credited Resmed with being out front in having fine grained adjustment )0.2 CMs) but this is a great improvement over 0.5 CMs which was the best Respironics offered before (that I know of).
It looks good. My technical mind wants to know what blower config they have in it & what pressure sensors.

Re: Respironics SleepEasy System
It is the lowest cost machine Respironics makes, it doesn't even come with a carry case. It is not as user friendly as it appears.
Re: Respironics SleepEasy System
Seeing the price, and the specs, and then reading in another post here that it's the least expensive (cheapest) one they make? Unbelievable. (Well, actually, I guess it is believable, when you think about it.)

Re: Respironics SleepEasy System
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I didn't take the description Slinky quoted as meaning the therapy pressure setting itself could be adjusted in 0.1 increments.dsm wrote:What catches my attention immediately (apart from how nice it looks) is that it can be adjusted to within 0.1 CMs of pressure. I took it to mean the machine had a calibration setting to allow a DME (or anyone with a manometer) to adjust the blower (if necessary) to a delivered pressure accuracy within 0.1 cm of the pressure shown in the window. But perhaps I misunderstood that.
I guess when a machine is as basic as that one seems to be, they have to really stretch to produce a list of "features" at all. LOL!! Gotta' love the words the marketing guys use to describe "ramp" as "Deluxe ramp capabilities"

But it would be interesting to get a machine that could do 0.1 increments - I would use it with my current machine if it had it. It only does 1.0 increments.

I guess the word "calibration" kind'a jumped out to non-engineer-me when reading Slinky's post.dsm wrote:Thanks RestedGal - I guess I need to read the fine print more closely m
Well, to each their own.dsm wrote:But it would be interesting to get a machine that could do 0.1 increments - I would use it with my current machine if it had it. It only does 1.0 increments.

Even though the machine I usually use offers half cm increments, I prefer making my changes in a whole cm at a time. The 0.2 increments available in ResMed machines seem like finetuning-overkill enough. So, the idea of wanting 0.1 increments makes me laugh.
I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt there would be any appreciable difference in therapy between using, say, a pressure of 13.4 vs 13.5
