FP Flexi-fit 306 Cushion

Post by ldemmery » Fri Nov 07, 2008 10:55 am

Did you know that the cushion inside the Fisher Paykell Flexi-fit masks should be changed out monthly? But apparently most change them every 3 months. Mine lasted 6 months and am told that apparently I was looking after mine.

(I got that info from Fisher Paykell themselves).

I only get a new mask once a year, however my insurance has it seems reimbursed me for the replacement, was notified this morning. Cost $50 CDN.

Presuming you mean a FP 406 (not 306), well I get a year out a cushion on a FP 405 (essentially the same sort of cushion but a slightly differnt shape) before I replace it, but I have to pay for all my mask costs out of my own pocket.

Cheers,

Bill

Stupid me... yes, I do mean the 406. Mine seems to get these little cracks in it over time and they grow until it no longer seals properly. 6 months seems to be it for it. I have a very small nose (I guess you can say I'm nasally challenged). We're lucky, here in Ottawa (Canada) the DMEs let us try before we buy a new mask. We pay out of pocket first then have to claim it from the insurance.

We're also lucky in that the Ontario Provincial Government has a medical equipment assistance program, they pay 75% and we, or our private insurance pays 25%. We only need to buy from a real life DME, not online out of country. I did get them to pay for a hose from British Columbia once.
