OT Sorry America

Post by JeffH » Tue Nov 04, 2008 9:28 pm

The dumb voters in my state actually re-elected Jim Inhofe to the senate. I am truly sorry. We had a young man running against him that is smart, sharp, actually humble, had a brother killed in the WTC, and intelligent.

Obviously, the voters of Oklahoma like dumbasses and put one back in the Senate. Between him and Tom Coburn the combined I.Q. of our senate delegation is about 75.

Maybe in two more years....

It's all right, Jeff, don't beat yourself or Oklahoma up too much. I believe in our checks and balances system and that's only possible when people with different viewpoints come together to make our laws. I may not agree with everything, but compromises often give us better bills. Yes, they also give us "pork" but that's such an insignificant part of the federal budget that I truly don't mind adding incentives to get someone to support a good bill.....

Here's to more bipartisanship going forward!

Aw Jeffy, you tried buddy. That's all you can do. I understand. Truly I do. I usually feel pretty crappy the day after election. {{{{{JeffH}}}}}

Sorry to say that's not the case so far today... (Go Darcy! Go Christine!)

Though I am trying to restrain my glee from the Republican BF as much as possible...

We kept saying goodnight on the phone last night, so we could watch the election results, then kept calling each other back to crow about our favorite results. At 10 pm I swore to him I wasn't gonna pick up again.

LOL,
B.

It looks to me that "We the People", always have to write the checks, for everyone elses Balances. Where is the fairness in a system like that, lets get back to working and paying for our own needs, and maybe living within our means. We don't have to keep up with our niebhors and we don't have to have everything we want, we need to pay the dues first. It's just harder living behind the eightball, adding 24% to purchases on your CC, because you can't afford it at it's normal price, doesn't make any sense. If you can't afford it, you probably don't need it. Jim

The only people i know who live in opulence are the private greedheads who just gouged
our hundreds if billions of dollars so they can continue to go on penthouse shopping sprees.

At our house we have no credit card debt--yet. We own a small house that we knew we
could afford --if no one lost a job. And yet---the State Retirement will now start cutting
my tiny retirement payment--due to the excesses and total contempt for regulation and
restraint on the part of (not totally) Republicans. How do we pay for food now without
going into credit card debt? It is easy to talk airily about it if you are not a very unwilling victim
of these robber barons and the BushRoveCheney war profiteering. Sorry. I am upset and angry
and not a fool and have never lived above my means.
Why do you not accuse those who have stolen our means of survival so they can buy solid gold faucets?
Oh, they are Republicans, the Party of Virtue and Hard Work...? BRRRAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHH!

Sorry, but the politics of envy, greed, and jealosy have won out. It may not be as bad, but I think the real powers that be are not what we see.
It may be change: for the better remains to be seen. I do not see the ultra rich ever having their wealth redistributed, at least to the point where they are 'equalized' with everyone else.
Gubmint has always wanted it mitts on the money the health care industry generates; that is the motivation, same as what motivates the teachers unions.
We'll see.
Of course, the real job opportunities will come for all the gubmint agencies, employees, and other whatnot b-crats that will be needed to run the bail out, more programs for welfare ne'er do wells, and anyone else with their hand out. Those that really need the money will see only about 20 cents on the dollar, if they even see that much.

Right on, Two Cents! That is what confronted FDRoosevelt after Republican anti-regulation brought
us to the Great First Depression. Whether you like his party or not, FDR put in the reasonable safeguards
and oversights which brought us to the greatest prosperity, and which had continued until Phil Gramm
and Greenspan foisted a bill for total lack of regulation (and which Bill Clinton signed into law) leading to
the debacle we the common people are suffering from.
I am so afraid your intelligent analysis of this Wild West/Robber Baron scenario is precisely what we will
be seeing all too soon. Death to Smoochy.

Our state results would give Rooster a boner.

66% McCain
34% Obama

All 77 counties went red. Highest McCain support in the country. Obama didn't carry one county, and for the first time since state hood (1907) the repugs control the state senate.
After 52 years in this state we're seriously considering moving.

Two Ccents says: Gubmint has always wanted it mitts on the money the health care industry generates; that is the motive, same as what motivates the teachers unions.

Two Cents, i gotta say, you surely don't know much about that massively significant difference between a teacher's hard-won salary, and what American CEO's make: e.g., one of 16 CEO's recently profiled: Maurice R. Greenberg, an AIG CEO had company stock worth $1.25 billion, which does not include his salary, bonuses, golden parachute, private jet....

Would you steer me to the school district that pays teachers that amount of cash? Clearly my decades
of college and two graduate degrees were in the wrong field. (Have you been believing Repug trash
about how "them durn teachers feeding at the public trough, drinking martinis all day long, gits paid
fancy salaries and mansions...?" And you really believe that teachers make maybe a billion dollars
a year?! Hey, i have a broken and trashed economy to sell you. Real cheap.
