Headrest deconstruction and gender

Post by ozij » Tue Oct 28, 2008 12:26 am

Women's heads and men's heads have a different shape. I can think of many female members who removed the headgear from the Headrest (aka Aura), I started wondering the relative numbers of deoncstructors.
I only want to know if the headgear is removed - other modifications (e.g. the rubber band tweak) don't count for this poll.

Thanks for participating!
O.

I've still got the "factory" headgear in place. I have two masks now, so the old one is going to be decapitated one of these days, I just need to get a round tuit.......

Great mask with the XL pillows!!!!

cheers

Ozij,

I didn't mind the headgear, but it rubbed my hair off. Plus I had to wear my hair in a ponytail for another anchor point, which stressed my roots too.

Nice poll, I'm curious about the results!

I haven't hacked mine yet either.
For a couple reasons - it is working plus I like the ease with which I can put on or take off the HeadRest. It fits like a hat. It is hot during the summer no doubt. Oh plus I'm not ready to put all the extra ties on yet.

fwiw - male, XL nose piece (Med to trade), pressure 18/15cm, just a dab of Lansinoh helps it to seal better.

Best mask I have found for side or belly sleeping

Thanks to RG's for suggesting it, ufo13 for the opportunity to try it, and Jules for the tip.

I voted for #1, I am a female and I use a decapitated/deconstructed headrest, thanks to RestedGal/Laura's wonderful [/b]ideas, she's the one that first started this decap thing , experimenting with the decapitation process of masks... "Thanks Laura"
I use mine with the pap~cap, I am not totally finished because I have been busy with my Daughter (long story) and my back has been out for 4 weeks now.
I just need to find some type of padding that will fit properly under the top of the headrest, i've tried the make-up pads but they are to small and aren't thick enough to hold the mask in place well enough!

Well, I think I DID de-capitate mine, then I passed it off to another local forum member, so I'm not much help.

However, I'm reconsidering the Headrest again, just because of the vent situation, because I've now got a bed partner - who I might add YELLS AT ME that my CPAP DOESN'T BOTHER HIM IN THE LEAST - and I'm worried about annoying him with the vents on my NAII.

Isn't it funny how when someone is a pill you could care less about annoying them? And when they are just the sweetest human on the planet you become hyper worried about bothering them? We still haven't spent a whole night in the same bed yet. MY FAULT.

Anyway, I'm torn between the Liberty and the Headrest right now, and November 1 is my due date for buying a new mask. If I buy the Headrest, I'm pretty sure I'll decapitate it, not because it rubs my hair off, but because it's just lighter and more comfortable to attach it to a chinstrap than to us it as-is.

Cheers,
B.

Ray & Bubba

were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.
A woman walked by and asked what they were doing.
'We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole,' said Bubba,
'but we don't have a ladder.'
The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts,
and laid the pole down.
Then she took a tape measure from her pocket,
took a measurement, announced, 'Eighteen feet, six inches,'
and walked away.
Ray shook his head and laughed. 'Ain't that just like a woman!
We ask for the height and she gives us the length!'
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I had been struggling with CPAP for a year and a half until I got the Aura and an Auto. From that point things started looking up. I finally started feeling like CPAP was doing me some good. I really liked the headgear for it's ease of taking on/off and it's stability, but I hated the "hat hair" in the morning. After well over a year I finally took Rested Gal's advice and deconstructed it and used pantyhose to secure it. Works for me.

As I'm bumping this, there are still no males choosing to deconstruct the Headrest....
