Trazadone as a sleep aid

Has anyone used trazadone as a sleep aid while on CPAP? I've just been prescribed some to help with anxiety associated with wearing the mask. Hopefully it will help me drift off a bit more easily.

I've used Trazadone as a sleep aid - but not when on CPAP. It got me to sleep, but I had to take it right before bed. It only seemed to work for a short time. If I stayed up too long, it was like I didn't take it.

My psychiatrist did prescribe trazadone, and it worked, even when I was on cpap. Later, he became concerned that it would decrease my breathing at night, so he took me off it. I don't know whether it is one for sure that does cause respiratory problems, but you might want to check whether it is a good idea or not with having sleep apnea. Good luck.

I use a memory foam pillow ... works great for me. I just lay my head on it and close my eyes.

My Doctor prescribes it for me and I do have it on hand however, i've only used it a couple of times because it makes me sleepy, and groggy headed the next day and that's what I am trying to get rid of with having sleep apnea, duh! And what gets me is my Doctor knows I have sleep apnea, she says that they aren't addicting and wouldn't give me anything else... So I just hardly ever take them!
Oh and BTW, my Doctor said that won't hurt me taking them having sleep apnea!
I would just try one and check my numbers/AHI, etc. in the am and see how much they differ from the day before (without the Trazdone)! There shouldn't be much difference at all unless you take more than you are prescribed ...

Forgot to add that you can also use Melatonin 5mg. to help you drift off to sleep and you can buy it over the counter at Costco or Walmart for about $5.00 for 100 tablets, thanks to Snoredog's advice I picked some up while at Costco and they work quite well, if you take these, take them right before getting in bed, they seem to wear off quickly!

Thank you for the replies. It seems to be having a good effect. I take it (50 mg) about 30 minutes before bedtime and I can get to sleep within about 10 minutes of lights out. It really shuts down my brain which would ordinarily be racing through a million different thoughts and preventing me from sleeping (with or without CPAP). That for me is a godsend. I have a bit of dry mouth but that is normal. I'll keep in mind about the melatonin which would work out a lot cheaper than trazadone which is about $10/month.

I have used this drug before and all I can tell you is the next day you are Zombie, bad drug as far as I'm concerned
