I want to try a different mask. I have the ComfortFull 2.

Post by CMF » Tue Oct 14, 2008 1:50 pm

Can someone recommend a different mask for me to try? There are nights that fidgeting with the mask keeps me up all night. Other nights I have no problem. I want something that is comfortable and easy to use.

Thanks much!

I don't know.

I looked at a couple of other masks during the sleep study and tried them on. I rejected them on the spot. Someone would have to convince me to try something that is very different from what I am using.

Follow-up question: Is my choice limited to Respironic masks? It seems that they only have one other full face model worth considering.

Having tried several masks, including nasal, full face and prong type I finally settled on Activa with a chin strap and have been doing great with it for several months. It is themost comfortable of any that I tried.

I run a free Test Drive for the Nasal Aire II mask.

Check out my Nasal Aire II Tip Sheet in my sig line. If you scroll all the way through the thread, you'll find lots of info about the trial:
viewtopic/t23207/Babettes-Nasal-Aire-II-Tip-Sheet.html

Also, see pix of how I wear the mask here: http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p36/ ... aise/CPAP/

Basically - you send me via PM:

Your real name
Your snail mail addy
Your offline email addy
Your phone number (this is for emergency use only – I keep it confidential)

I'll put you on the list and tell you approximately where you are in terms of getting the mask.

When the person ahead of you on the trial is ready to send it to you, I'll email them your info. They will then email you that it's coming.

You pay the postage to pass it along to the next person. When you're done testing it out, you email me, and ask for the info for the next person on the list. And so on. Your only cost is the price of postage to mail it out to the next person.

Feel free to PM me!

Cheers,
Barbara/Babette

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

CMF... you aren't limited to the type or Brand of mask that you use... unless you have some limitation that makes it so you only want a full face mask, you aren't even limited to that.

I don't know about the Nasal Aire II. I'm prone to having a stuffy nose and have a deviated septum. And, I think I'm a mouth breather at times. I'd like to switch to some sort of full face mask - I think. Which one is best reviewed?

Check the reviews for many full face (and other) masks at cpap.com.

I tried a Respironics FF mask, I’m pretty sure it was the Comfortlite 2, and it wouldn’t seal at all. But then, you’ve got to consider that the DME was fitting me.

Ultra Mirage FF, medium shallow, was better but still didn’t seal so well. DME fitting again.

I used the CPAP.com fitting guide. It said I needed UMFF size medium standard. Works great.

What worked for me may not work for you. We’re all different that way. But I feel good about recommending the CPAP.com fitting guide.

Do either the Ultra MIrage or Mirage Quattro give people sores on the bridge of their noses?

Hey Charles: I've purchased and tried around 5 different masks. The latest one from Resmed called "Swift LT" is the most comfortable, least intrusive, non-leaking mask I've used.

I'ts not cheap, but I believe you get what you paid for ($119 with one size nose pillow or $159 with all sizes). I use the medium nose pillow. It's very light and doesn't irritate my nose.

I'm bidding on an Activa mask using the auction link - I have to start somewhere I guess.

I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Thanks,

Charles

Not for me. Usually the only reasons that a mask would "hurt" you is if they are the wrong size and/or are way too tight.....or if the word "Comfort" is in the name.....as in Comfortfull 2.

This has been reported here on occasion. Contact padacheek. She makes a pad that seems to help a lot of people.
