Does Anyone Else Here Have Central Sleep Apnea? (CSA)

I think you will find quite a few people here with various forms of Centrals.
What machine have they given you to treat it / and or pressure

I have an M series Auto and supplimental oxygen if I need it. Unfortunately, I am horrifically ignorant as to what my machine is set at. I don't know how to read it at all.

Regina although Central Apneas are not as common as Obstructive Apneas, there are allot of us out here that have them, and more than likely have both types of Apneas and this is called Complex Sleep Apnea which is what I have. I was started off on CPAP then went on BiPAP, and then finally on VPAP ASV with Supplemental Oxygen at 3lpm. So your not alone with having Centrals

Central Apnea and when I would try to start again I couldn't every time due to the Obstructive Apnea.

Thanks WhiteBear! It is nice to know that I am not alone. I have just never met anyone else with it. It seems like OSA was more common, but maybe that is just what is more common among the people I know in real life. (mainly husband's family members)

Hi Den. That is interesting. I can tell that I really need to learn more about all this. I have no idea how things went from my sleep study other than that I was having 120-150 apneas and my sat dropped way low. I feel like the wool is coming off of my eyes at last. Ignorance does not always equal bliss.

One way to learn more about your apnea is to have someone experienced look at your study
results. I would suggest SleepyDave on the sleep apnea forum.

Also ask people one this forum what some of the basic terms mean.
The "Our Wissdom" symbol above on this web page is also helpful.

I am similar to Whitebeard, in that I have mainly centrals with some obstructive apnea.
I went from CPAP to BiPAP to ResMed Assist sv and use supplemental oxygen at night.

Some labs know how to treat complex apnea, and some don't deal much with it.

It is best to learn all you can in case you have the latter case and not the former.
