I <3 my Comfort Lite 2

Post by jmaziarz » Fri Sep 19, 2008 8:05 am

I am a side/prone sleeper and a mouth breather. I have been using the Mirage Liberty FF for about 6-months. Overall the Liberty is a good mask but the mouth interface had started to hurt my teeth and leak around the edges. It was probably to tight but any looser and it would leak like a sieve. It just didn't fit my face well.

Last night was my first using the Comfort Lite 2 and it was amazing in comparison. I chose the "direct seal" nasal interface. With only a few small adjustments I quickly found a comfortable position. The head-gear while fairly large is surprisingly light and well balanced. I barely noticed I had it on and it stayed put all night without being very tight. Along with a taped mouth, I think I have finally found my mask.

Here is my data for the night. My best AHI yet!

In a previous post I experimented with raising my minimum pressure to 11 or 12 to try and reduce my apnea events. I wanted to get a "base line" with the new mask so I reduced my minimum pressure back down to 10. Tonight I will raise it back to 11 and see if things change.

How's it going still? I too use the CL2 but use the nasal pillows. How are you keeping the direct seal cushion in place and does it leak?

It is going great. I love this mask.

I started with the direct seal cushion but have since switched to the nasal pillows. The direct seal cushions started to irritate my nose. I was using size "4", it may have been a little big. I do like the nasal pillows better though. They are far more comfortable and don't leak for me either.

I haven't figured out is why I get so much condensation inside the nasal interface part. I have stopped using my humidifier because I would turn over in the night and get a nose full of water. I panicked the first time it happened.

My AHI has been between 1.7 and 3.1. Far better than when I was using the Mirage Liberty.

I laughed when I read how you turned over and got a nose full of water - me too! That was such a surprise for me too when it happened!! I just began using the hose hanger (along with hose cover) which has stopped rain out in the large hose. Now just the mask hose and nose piece has it.

I too experience heavy accumulation of water in the nasal pillow piece. I think the increased surface area that has exposure to outside air main create a rain out effect inside the mask. I also think the hose on the headpiece being exposed delivers an additional amount of water down into the nasal piece. It's irritating. My leak numbers are up because twice a night I twist off the piece and invert it over the nice cushy area rug beside the bed. At that point when I move, the exposed hose on the headpiece drips extra water on my face. So much fun huh?

I think I'm going to give the headrest a try. The CL2 works so well - my numbers are great being around 1.7, but the nightly shower has to stop : ) I'll do a post to find out if the headrest has mask condensation/rain out issues.

It's about 68 - 70. When I travelled and was in a warmer room, I had almost zero water issues but had to sleep with the covers off and was very uncomfortable. I like colder rooms. I may have to get a heated hose at some point.
