Nose has an ouch...Ayr question

Post by Guest » Tue Sep 23, 2008 12:22 pm

While travelling this last time, I developed a sore right on the inside rim of my left nostril. Holy COW, that sucker hurts! Night before last, I woke up every half hour or so with the NAII bumping into it and my seeing stars. I slept without the mask last night b/c I couldn't bring myself to put it on with the pain in my nose, but I didn't get much sleep then, either, from how I'm feeling today.

For those who use Ayr, do you use it routinely or only when you have an issue? and we're sure it's safe to use on silicone?

I use the Ayr every day, and have found that I have more leaks and discomfort if I forget. And the Ayr gel was specifically recommended to me by my DME because of being safe to use with silicone nasal pillows I use. I'm sure there are many things that are not safe with silicone - I've heard that petroleum-based products are a bad idea. Which is a shame, because I'd love to coat my entire mask with mentholatum.

I too use Ayr gel (or similar product) every night and I also use a nasal prongs interface. I do not use the Nasal Aire 11. I use the Snapp. It's much the same as the Nasal Aire. I've used this interface for almost 3 months every night and have had no problems. Like Deneb, if I don't use the gel, I have problems.

When I get an ouchy - which I have one right now on my right nostril - I use Neosporin during the day, but nothing at night. You might try a combination of Ayr Gel at night, and Neosporin during the day. If I recall correctly, you were the first NAII user I met who could use Ayr Gel at night without getting horrible leaks.

Yeah, we all get ouchies. My newest cannula seems just a tad bigger than the last cannula, even though they are the same size. I've developed a nice little zit/sore just on the inside rim of my nare. So very attractive...

Luckily, the New Beau is blind with lust...

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

I use Healing Essence--all natural, based on sea buckthorn berry oil. Soothes and heals and perfectly safe. Made by DayBreak Lavender Farm, available on-line.
