Asthma attacks during sleep

Post by Lizdragoon2002 » Sat Sep 20, 2008 11:47 pm

September 20 2008

After more than a year trying to sleep more than three hours using a CPAP, being chided by physician and DME manager for not trying hard enough, I had an AHA!!! moment. Perhaps asthma attacks during sleep were waking me with short of breath reactions and rib cage pain. Golly gee whiz, two puffs of albuterol before putting the mask on with a trial auto-CPAP keep me sleeping for more than four hours. I think I have a second episode about 5 am, so tonight I will try using the rescue inhaler when I wake at 5 pm.

Why can't a pulmonologist and the DME specialist define and detect the difference between sleep apnea and asthma episodes? Do they get more money with the frequent office visits and the continued rental of the CPAP equipment when a patient continues to fail?posting.php?mode=post&f=1#
