dry mouth
Hi Mikel. Welcome!
Your other post said your pressure is at "about 20" and you use a ResMed S7 straight CPAP machine with HumidAire 2i humidifier and a Mirage Activa Mask. Is your pressure actually set at 20? Have you tried an auto machine to see what pressure(s) you typically use throughout the night? Do you have any difficulty exhaling against the pressure? How long have you been using CPAP?
Dry mouth could be an indication of mouth-breathing and the bad thing about that is you're not getting the therapy you need if its going in through your nose and right out again through your mouth. The humidifier would only help to a certain degree if you're mouth-breathing. Have you tried a full face mask?
I know, lots of questions. But the information will help the experienced CPAPers out there give you some excellent suggestions!

A full face mask works in stopping dry mouth for a great many people but not all of them, I being one. Some meds can contribute to dry mouth or not drinking enough water and then sometimes, you just have it no matter what you do. I'm still searching for a way to remedy my dry mouth and haven't had much success. I have a full face mask and heated humidifier and don't take any meds that could dehydrate and drink lots of lots of water but still get really bad dry mouth. I hope the full face mask works for you. Perhaps an autopap might be of help too since it could cut down on the amount of pressure you need during the night. I'm stuck with my straight c-pap for now but intend to try an autopap as soon as I can save up the money.
Tater Pie,
I havent' tried it yet in person, just ordered, but how about a heated hose, which lets more moisture be delivery to you airways from the humidifier? Have you tried it?

No, I haven't. But that's a good idea. A lot cheaper than purchasing an autopap too. I've turned my heated humidifer up all of the way and it doesn't stop the dry mouth now but if the Aussie heated hose allows more of the moisture to get to your mouth, I think it might be worth a try. It will be a while before I can afford any extras so if you get it soon please post and let me know how it works for you. Thanks for the suggestion.
I'll do that gladly, but I'm not an FF user.
