Re: Need Help with Machine!!!!!
Removing the flow genertor from the humidifier varies a little bit, depending upon which version of the humidifier you have.
I have the newer 12v with the J-tube chamber. If you have that one, you need to slide the flow generator forward and then lift up. If you've got the older AC version with the side-by-side opening chamber, someone else will have to tell you how because I don't know...sorry...
Just so you know, I just traveled by with both of the pieces and didn't have any problems...if that's part of your concern about not taking the humidifer on your trip.

Re: Need Help with Machine!!!!!
Thanks for the info. I do have one of the older models that have side by side chambers (that leak sometimes!!) Anyway - we are going to Europe and I was just trying to lighten the load.
Anyone else know how to separate the older model???
Thanks so much

(New model) I had to remove the humidifier tank, unplug the cord, remove 6 terx screws on the unit bottom, then carefull pry the bottom off? Not sure if this is the correct method, but it worked.

I have the old model. I took it off some time ago and switched to the Fisher & Paykel stand alone humdifier partly because I was afraid it would leak into the machine. as the older model sometimes did.
As I recall, you pull the machine itself forward. It takes a little effort since it is a tight fit. Pull it straight forward and up just a bit off the platform that is part if the humidifer. The machine itself should come out in your hands. You then need to attach that little adapter that should have come with your machine to the back of the machine and this is where you attach the hose when you have removed the humidifier.
I'm not sure I explained that too well! Doing it and explaining it are 2 different things!
Check the manual for the machine and the humidifier. I think there is help there on how to do it.

On the new 12v, J-tube models you don't have to remove any screws, but you do have to unplug the three inch power cord that goes between the two units.Georgio wrote:(New model) I had to remove the humidifier tank, unplug the cord, remove 6 terx screws on the unit bottom, then carefull pry the bottom off? Are you sure you have the newest model? My first DME tried to pawn off an older one, so I went somewhere else. If you look at the bottom, it will clearly say 12v...

Re: Need Help with Machine!!!!!
I was just reminded by the previous post here - you have to unplug the humidifier from the power brick too!
Check the manuals!

Re: Need Help with Machine!!!!!
You just lift firmly from the bottom of the blower unit, holding down the HH with your left hand. It feels like you might break it but it just snaps out. Then you need the adapter for the hose. If you don't have the adapter either contact your DME or just take the HH with you.

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

I have to ask, why not take along the humidifier? I cannot imagine you can save that much space - (my opinion only)

I agree. You may wish you had brought the humidifier after a few nights of cold, dry cpap air.plus1hdcp wrote:I have to ask, why not take along the humidifier? I cannot imagine you can save that much space - (my opinion only)
Been there, done that... thought I could easily go without humidification on a trip to tropical climes. Forgot about how it would be in an air conditioned room. Regretted not having the humidifier with me.

If you're like me, if I turn off the humidifier then my nose drys up and gets stuffy. Then I can't use the nasal mask at all. I have to use a FF mask until my sinuses return to normal. I do use the Neti Pot now which helps keep the sinuses moist and clear. But, you don't want to add a Neti Pot to your luggage if you're trying to get rid of space by doing without your humidifier. You'll want the best sleep you can get to enjoy your travels.
I recommend taking it, using the purest water you can find in it while you're there. Don't forget to empty the water chamber before moving on - I say this because I didn't. I was in a hurry to pack it the morning of my flight and left the dregs of water from the previous night. Luckily, it didn't get out of the chamber.
Don't forget a power adapter. I recommend the Kensington 33117 International All-in-One Travel Plug Adapter. It's very small.
Check with your airline to see if they mention how they treat onboard CPAP machines. Mine mentioned I could take mine with me in the cabin and not have it count toward pieces allowed. They described how they would inspect it before boarding. I brought a document showing my prescription. They were so savvy, they spotted me in line and called me over to their inspection station. I actually made it through quickly and with no fuss. I didn't have to take it out of the case until I got to the inspection station.
Best wishes.
