Just some decent anti-bacterial soap or solution will do the trick. She may want to get a package of the CPAP cleaning wipes and pack them in a ziplock bag since those are very handy and make life easier than having to use a sink and soap to clean the working parts.

You didn't say which CPAP machine or if you were also talking about the masks, humidifier, hose, etc........

Probably wouldn NOT be a good idea to wash the CPAP MACHINE with soap and water, though. Just the removable foam filter if it's a "loaner". If there's also a humidifier, try to use distilled water and rinse out the humidifier chamber (after removing it from the machine).

Did you really think I was implying to wash a piece of electrical equipment?

Well, the original poster did say "......does anyone know of the cleaning procedure used for the machines?"

Just trying to be on the cautious side.

So, your saying I should quit just putting the entire machine in the dishwasher once a week?

Gee Den, you're such a hard liner...

Yeah, Den's makin' sure. It's a good thing to do with sleep-deprived folks. Thanks Den for looking out for the newbies!

LOL,

THANKS DEN,
that is exactly what i was looking for, it's just a little scary to think if it had not been cleaned properly. I practice respiratory thepary, but we have different procedures in the hospital than home care situations. the info was really helpful!
