Put me in the total darkness bucket.

Melatonin works best in total darkness also -- both the natural stuff and the supplements....
When my eyes are closed I notice white lights and flashing of TV screen, but the blue lights on the DVR and M-Series don't seem to bother me that much -- I do cover the lights on the xPAP machine however so they're not so bright.....

cheers

I can sleep anytime anywhere and lights on or off. I have no problems sleeping. When my kids were toddlers they would jump on me without waking me up.

Interesting poll, and funny that RVW thought to pull it out of that other thread.

I'm a tweener. I can sleep with a decent amount of ambient light, but it's got to be soft / diffused. Streetlight / moonlight no problem.

TV - never, ever for 1) noise, 2) light type 3) constant light shift.

LED's - are annoying up close. So the display on the cable box across the room - not an issue. Clock next to the bed - turn it as far away as possible. Bright blue LED light on the ceiling - awful and jarring.

My wife can fall asleep with the lights on, the TV on and probably me vacuuming too!

Suppose thats why I always drive on road trips, cant sleep in car anyhow, so might
as well drive. Been known to pull 14 hr shifts behind the wheel, while others I know
can fall asleep in car in first 15 minutes.

(and I dont consume caffiene, LOL)

I used to have to have the room completely dark. I'd cover my alarm clock, etc. If I stayed the night in any place other than my own house, I'd have to scope out the darkest corner of the room and set up my bed to fit.

Anymore though, I can (and have) slept under the lights of a football field...or at work in a well lit office at noon. No problem.

I have always been ready to sleep, in Nam I fell asleep on guard duty, I was standing up at the time, it hurts to fall on your rifle. I have also went to sleep driving a 150 ton truck with 700 HP just under your seat. I used to take a nap in the back of my lube truck, on the floor next to a Lister 3 cyl air cooled diesel generator/ compressor unit. (Left running for the heat) This was 20 years before I had treated sleep apnea. Jim

Even though my treatment is perfect, I still have trouble staying awake after a meal watching T.V., but I'm old, that's my excuse!

Since I work nights, I need total darkness to sleep during the day. I wear a memory foam eye mask to block out light. It works so well that my husband can turn every light on to get ready for work and I do not know. I use dark curtains. I have 3 fans running to muffle out any sounds. If I flip-flop to sleep at night, I keep my routine. I feel naked w/o the pap-cap, eyemask and swift LT....can't sleep w/o darkness

Dark-ish is fine for me.

Those blue lights? I love em.

However, I am certainly understanding of those who require total darkness.

My bedroom has one of those security lights right outside the window. I'd have gone for mostly dark though. I have trouble with bright lights at night keeping me awake, but if it was dark when I got to sleep, I can sleep late into the sunshine. Plus I can nap in the sunshine (provided I feel like napping).
