Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
Okay, here's the poll!
Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
Those 2 choices don't work for me .... I don't need total darkness but I also can't sleep with a lot of light. I can tolerate a night light and the Respironics "blue lights"

Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
I'm one of those who need complete darkness.
Something as simple as a full moon disrupts my sleep.
Its really an annoying symptom to deal with, as the simplest
thing as turning on a bathroom light can leave me wide
awake for hours. (and forget those digital clocks, the
shine of light is toooooooooo much) pathetic I know

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. And remember - the richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.
Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
Would have voted for mostly dark but am sympathetic to those who are after total darkness.
Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
If a choice had been mostly dark it would have gotten my vote, I can sleep with the lights from the cpap and the clock but thats it.
newbie Hosehead, can use all the advice you can give.
Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
If you need total darkness, here ya go. I think it makes a smashing fashion statement, don't you? LOL

Personally, I can sleep in almost any light or non-light condition, unless I have a headache. Then I need darkness. I have been known to wear something like this if I have a really bad headache and need to lay down during the day. It's noises like talking, TV's, radios, music, that drive me nuts when I'm trying to sleep. Constant noises like fans help me go to sleep.

Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
I couldn't find a reasonable vote option that suits my situation. I prefer it to be relatively dark, but I can sleep in with the lights on. I don't notice things like night lights and clock displays; the blue lights on my auto M are annoying but not so bright to disturb my sleep. I am much more bothered by the room being too warm than by lights.
Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?

Isn't that the model that lets copious amounts of blue light in?????

hey don't ask her, she's the one that kicks all night long-SWS wrote:

but that would be my guess also, maybe if you used a black one it would work like a black light and make everyone's underwear show up really bright??
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
...neither of the choices exactly fit me. But I picked the light, because I CANNOT stand full darkness, I am talking total freakout. I am not afraid of the dark, like night outside when you can still see a little, but I cannot stand total dark, I get horrible claustrophobic, and panic. weird huh?

Yes, that is the one!-SWS wrote:

TOTAL darkness for sure. I WAS trying to sleep (4 to 5 hours) with all the little LED's on the TV, VCR, DVD, clock, smoke alarm, cable TV, humidifier, CPAP machine, InvaCare oxygen machine etc>! Black TAPED them all up and got myself a Blackout blind...TOTAL BLACK room. Getting 6.5 to 8 hours of SOLID deeeeeep sleep. Can't sleep without the mask now. I now call it my "sleep chamber".

Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
If I'm tired enough I can sleep in nearly any light (and I have many times; I used to work 3rd shift). This is fortunate for me as we have a cat who cannot resist breaking mini-blinds, so we have to leave all the blinds raised high enough she can stand under them on the window sill. I mention this because we're in a 2nd floor apartment currently, which faces out on a parking area, and there is a streetlight nearby that shines right in my eyes when I'm laying in bed at night.
I use one of those eye masks every night, with my Swift LT on over it, and the eye mask also saves me from being bothered by the hose right in my face (can't stand having things too close in front of my face). To be honest, I'm more bothered by noise, as an above poster mentioned, and by room temperature not being comfortably warm, and by smell. That has been a tremendous surprise benefit of CPAP - I can sleep facing my mouth-breathing husband and not suffer his smoker's dragon breath, because the air intake on my machine is on the floor on the other side of the bed, with a pursleep diffuser pad under it.
