Mirage Activa Nasal Mask Nosiy?
Mirage Activa Nasal Mask Nosiy?
I have read much about the Mirage Activa Nasal Mask and how much people who have one really like it. Especially those of us who turn over and over again
all night long. Also the special cushion that seals without having to tighten straps too hard. So...I got one. It came today, and when I put it on it sounded like a wind tunnel!
It was so noisy there is no way I can sleep with it. Also the venting allows so much air forced out that I can feel it a foot way from the mask. I don't think this should be normal for any mask. I have made sure everything is connected properly, ports closed, etc. It does not leak around my face as the seal works, but the noise and the powerful air flow outside of the mask is troublesome. Unless something changes I have wasted my money. Any comments?

Re: Mirage Activa Nasal Mask Nosiy?
i have not had that problem. even at a pressure of 12 I haven't found it noisy. I have the hose coming from above my head with the Hozer attachment so the rushing air is going upwards. If I had it over my covers I can see it being pretty loud though.
Re: Mirage Activa Nasal Mask Nosiy?
The mask pillow probably isn't seated properly. It's a very quiet mask. Make sure all three clips are in place.

How right you are. After a closer look one of the side clips was not all the way seated. After that it was nice and quiet. Now the only thing I will have to get used to is thebigk wrote:The mask pillow probably isn't seated properly. It's a very quiet mask. Make sure all three clips are in place.
mask floating out and in with each breath! I tried loosing the side straps as much as I dared without a leak and discovered that it made a difference in how the masked moved in and out. The looser the straps the less movement. Anyone have ideas on how to make the mask the best? Thanks.
Jeff (after two plus years on cpap still looking for that "perfect" mask!

Just be careful making the straps too loose. I know what you mean about the mask moving in and out.
I was getting around 0.06l/s leak with that mask and was very happy with it even though I found it a bit bulky. I got offered a no risk trial of a Swift LT and will be keeping it. It's the best mask I have used - I've only had it and the Activa. I'm getting 0.00-0.02 leak with the Swift LT. I hated the Swift II but the swift LT is a great mask. The only think I don't like about it is it vents straight out whereas the Activa vents upwards (and away from my wife)
The LT is really comfortable though. I just need to make sure I don't face my wife! Spooning is out too. Grrrrrrr

Re: Mirage Activa Nasal Mask Nosiy?
some people cannot hear, to them it is quiet
for those of us that can and are annoyed by exhaust noise it is noisy.
I still have one, haven't used it in a long long time, it needs a new cushion, I didn't feel it was worth replacing,
after a while the cushion begins to ride up and cut under the nares. It you take it apart to clean it can leak if
you don't get it snapped back together correctly. Headgear is same as all other Resmeds, good quality.
It uses the same swivel elbow, exhaust and leader hose as the Vista in fact they are completely interchangeable,
I have one of those in my dud drawer too.
it is also big and bulky compared to other nasal masks. About the only thing going for it is how it seals against your face,
but then again I don't find a nasal mask all that difficult to stop leaks. But some people like it, what ever works.
My Soyala is a lot smaller, seals just as good and a whole lot quieter, I think it is even cheaper.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
Re: Mirage Activa Nasal Mask Nosiy?
I have used the activa for three nights now and have found it very comfortable. My AHI's have been 2.9, 2.8 and 2.9. Leak rate is at 32 which according to specifications is good for that mask at pressure of 12.
I would like to lower the AHI. Does anybody think that raising my pressure to 13 would help or hurt? Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Mirage Activa Nasal Mask FLOATING
Try increasing your low pressure, had to get mine up to 6.5 cm to stop the floating.
Re: Mirage Activa Nasal Mask FLOATING
I don't have a low pressure as I run straight CPAP at a pressure of 12.nosbig17 wrote:Try increasing your low pressure, had to get mine up to 6.5 cm to stop the floating.
