Air Pressure

Post by zamdriver » Fri Aug 22, 2008 2:26 pm

How likley would it be for my machine to decrease pressure on it's own? I have a Remstar M series, been using it for a little over six months. I've noticed that is doesn't seem to be blowing as hard when I wake up. Am I just getting use to it? I seem to be sleeping OK, but maybe I need to invest in a card reader or something.

Or a Manometer, but more likely you are getting used to being pressurized. Not when someone comes up and tells us we are full of air, we can say dard right. If you would fill in your profile you could get more informed answers. (In text of course) Jim

I also have a Remstar M and experiencing the same morning drop in pressure, I talked to my supplier and she told me "everyone thinks that after awhile". So I put together a home made manometer and did a pressure check at bed time and in the morning, I learned two things. First, according to the manometer when I go to bed I am only at 8" pressure and I should be at 11" The second thing I found is the pressure did indeed drop by 1" by morning. I don't believe I am reading the manometer incorrectly but I am working on getting a actual gauge that reads in inches of water to verify my results. incidentally I went into the machine settings and raise the pressure but couldn't stand it at 11" It seemed like the machine CFLEX couldn't drop the pressure fast enough to exhale, maybe that is why it is set low?.......... Three mask's and 8 weeks on it and I am now more tired than I have ever been in my life, if I didn't keep the wife awake with snoring I would toss it in the trash.

Do you have it set to ramp? That way it will start at 8 on purpose and work it's way up to 11 over a set period of time - usually 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the settings.

I think I'll make one to check mine. I'm not at all convinced pressure is at 11.5 in the AM. A one inch change is about 2cm of pressure, right? So wouldn't that mean the machine is faulty if it's 2 cm lower in the morning than your set pressure?

Don't give up!

I too feel like the pressure is lower in the morning - I hadn't worried about it before, thinking I was just used to it by morning.

One thing I do check is the exit port flow - it feels the same as when I start - so I'm not worrying. I can tell it is less when on ramp, etc. Also, if I let the air flow in my mouth, I feel the pressure there.

When I tested it just before bed and found the pressure at 8" instead of 11" it was not in the ramp mode, the drop in the morning was from 8" down to 7" so by then even if it was in the ramp mode it should have been through the ramp. Another thing is the air flow from the exhale port seems to drop as the night goes on this is what started me checking.

I read another post that said the Remstar is cable of varying the pressure on it's own. Not sure what the purpose of that would be. I have to look further into that.
