Want larger mask-wider

Post by ChainSaw » Fri Aug 08, 2008 10:38 pm

I started CPAP two years ago with a ResMed Ultra Mirage mask. I needed something to go under my chin so switched to Fisher and Paykel Flexifit 431. I'm reasonably happy with it, but I want something larger, and wider. This thing interferes with the way I like to wear my mustache. Someone from National suggested a Quatro.
How does this differ from what I have? How much bigger is it?

Quattro won't be any different or larger than your UltraMirage.

Maybe you should look at a total face mask:

boy you won't make any fashion statements with that one
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Has anyone actually tried this thing? I'm tempted, but I'm wondering how much air is going to whoosh into your eyes with this one and how much pressure it puts all around the perimeter of your face. I would love to hear from somebody with actual experience with it.

Thank you!

Peggy,

I've tried the full face mask and believe me, unless you have a very wide, flat face, it won't work. As you suggested, it leaks all around the face, and only comes in one size. Those straps do not connect in the back, so they would slide up, or down all night. I think you would have to be unconscious to tolerate that mask.

Thanks, OutaSync! I've often wondered about that mask, and now I know why it's not a popular choice. I appreciate you saving me what would have likely been a wasted investment.
