Gross subject - mouth breather needs help!!!!!

Post by painterman » Tue Aug 05, 2008 4:42 pm

i am a mouth breather. During the day cannot comforably breath through my nose so i end up breathing through my mouth. I have been doing this for all my life. The problem is at night when I wear my Twilight NP and tape up my mouth. My mouth is used to creating a lot of saliva during the day to keep my mouth moist. That is all fine but at night it keeps on producing saliva at the same rate (at least that is what I think) and so the tape quite often gets to much liquid on it and will start leaking sometime during the night.

This problem of lots of saliva also affects using my Hybrid. With the hybrid either I have the blowfish effect or at some time during the night the saliva comes out and makes the mask leak easily. It seems like I have problems with either type of mask.

My favorite is the Twilight NP. it is the most comfortable and gives me the best therapy. I use pink tape, which is waterproof and sticks like crazy. Even with that I still can have the problem of leaking tape about half of the time.

Does anybody have similar problems and what do you do about it?

Please help if you can.

Thanks

PS. i feel like stuffing a sock in my mouth!!!

Try SleepGuy's PapCap chinstrap with your Hybrid ... good chance it will take care of your problem.

I feel your pain. I don't think I have the saliva problem, but
I sure can't keep my mouth shut.
I like the pillows too, and used Polident to glue my mouth shut.
I did not enjoy that at all, but it was effective.

I just got a FFM. Last night was my first night.
I thought there was no way I could tolerate a FFM,
but, it wasn't bad. I need to get used to it and
get things tweaked, but I am hoping that will be my answer.

I would also suggest the Papcap. I used it w/the polident
and it worked very well with the chinstrap.
Plus, it makes the headgear much more comfortable on your head.

Hope this helps!

I said that.
