Machines difference with same pressure.
I am at a pressure of 9. When I had a Fisher and Paykel 660, I ws able to sleep through the night and didn;t even get up to go to the bathroom. I now have a Resmed Elite because of it's data cpapbility. Pressure is still 9 but I find that I get up at least once during the night.
So, I was wondering if a 9 pressure on one machine is not a 9 pressure on another?
thanks,
Sharon

Sharon,
Are you using EPR on your Elite? If so, which setting?
Theoretically, they should all blow the same pressure at the same settings......
You notice I said SHOULD.

Have you used Ramp w/both devices? And the same Ramp settings?
If everything is the same then the only way you'd know for sure is to have both devices pressure checked.

I checked the pressure on my 420e the other day, was surprised to find it pumping out .5 cm less than the LCD display showed, adjusted the parameter from 133 to 148 and now its dead nuts right on with the LCD.
Without an manometer you really don't know what these machines are pumping out, until you check it. They usually don't change, think this one was off when I got it. Pressure can vary +/- 1 cm.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
I noticed the same thing. I had a loaner Fisher & Paykel and when I went to the Resmed Elite II I noticed a huge difference. Not sure which way you were swaying, but the Resmed pushes a lot more air than the Fisher.
I actually sleep much better now.
Just my $0.02

Hello,
F&P machines in our experience usually push out more pressure 0.5 to 1.0 cmH20 more pressure than what their dispays says. ResMed Elites are always accurate in the pressure levels. That's why you feel like you are getting less air from the ResMed. The altitude setting on the F&P machine could have been set wrong as well. The ResMed unit setting is auto so there is no need to worry about it.

Welcome to cpaptalk, ADVANScpap. We appreciate the sleep professionals who drop in from time to time to offer advice, suggestions and assistance w/problems.
BUT there are those of us who have encountered some really sheister local DME suppliers who are directly the reason for our having searched for and found this forum. So we tend to be a bit tuff on those professionals who drop in and are too blatant in promoting their company or their own agenda. You will need to maintain a sense of humor and a thick skin if you want to continue hanging around w/us I'm afraid.
I noticed that you were kind enough to drop in to apneasupport and offer some helpful advice and suggestions there as well. They have a pretty stiff policy regarding promoting products, busineses, etc. so I would imagine you will receive a few comments and PMs questioning your motives there as well.

And you have! I was just trying to prepare you. We have a few here who have really had issues w/local DME suppliers that are NOT bashful about their opinions of the sleep profession and especially DME suppliers and DME RTs.
Would you care to share some of your expertise and reply to my thread regarding Bi-Level Data Question?? Please feel free to do so.
