Which mask to get?

Post by iguru42 » Mon Aug 04, 2008 8:17 am

I posted earlier about trying out the Liberty Hybrid, I ended up returning it and going back to my nose mask.

I'd be perfectly happy to stay with the nose mask as I get great sleep with it the only issue is I have to take antihistamines almost daily so I can breath through my nose comfortably.

I'm torn between the Hybrid Universal and the Mirage Quattro.

I'm leaning toward the Mirage as now that I've experience nose pillows I'm not much of a fan, it felt odd, and while it might be something I could adjust to I don't want to hang the purchase on "might."

So Hybrid or FFM, what do you guys think?

Hi Iguru,

I too am interested in checking out the hybrid. Right now, I'm using the ultra mirage full face with really good results, but I like the idea of being able to use my glasses while I have a mask on. The liberty didn't work for me either.

pjwalman is starting a hybrid trial, so you may want to pm her about getting put on the list. Why not try it before buying it, eh?

Here's something that might help you with your mirage nasal. If you are using heated humidity, try turning off the heat on the humidifier. My nose stopped being stuffy when I did that. Cold humidity seems to keep my nose from getting stuffy, and I don't get any rain out anymore.

Try nasal rinses - e.g. NeilMed's sinusrinse. It flushes the allergens out of your nose, and helps against congestion.

I switched to the Hybrid Universal from an Opus Nasal Pillow because of mouth-breathing. After some experimenting with the various mouth and pillow sizes, I find it comfortable, easy to put on, and relatively leak-free.

Since the pillows and the mouth pieces are separate, and each pillow size has two different height positions, eighteen different combinations are possible. I wound up with the large mouthpiece and the small nasal pillows set in the upper position. Bob Hope I ain't!
