straying headgear suggestion

Post by quest496 » Fri Jul 15, 2005 7:57 am

Okay, now that I've been using this stuff for more than a few days, it's been a whole two weeks now, well actually just shy of it, well anyway...

i have a suggstion for all the people who are saying that htey end up in the middle of the night having taken off the mask without waking up so are recieving the benefits of the therapy as much as maybe they should.

This only works if, well, you have hair, so sorry to all those bald folks out there. I have taken to attaching the top strap of my headgear to my head with barettes.

What this does is make it so if, in the middle of the night I move in such a way as to loosen the seal, I don't remove the mask completely without knowing it I just wake up enough to make the correction.

And because I only attach the top strap with barettes, if for some reason I become claustrophobic or need to remove the mask immediately, I can still lift the mask fully away from my nose without panic. When I need ot use the bathroom in the middle of the night, I just pull the mask hose out of the machine hose and walk to the bathroom with the mask on. Much easier than having to resettle the mask once I am back in bed.

Well, hope this helps at least one person, you guys have been such a help to me, just by saying "keep on keeping on"

THanks

Your post helped me A LOT. I have the comfortlite and tuck my hair outside of the bottom band in the back, wearing the whole thing like a headband. I have so much hair, I then fold it in back and it adds some cushion between the headgear and the pillow...

Without doing this the headgear slips all over the place.

Thanks for suggesting!!

glad I could help. I guess that means I am not really a "newbie" anymore.

Kinda like another poster said, I pull my hair up and over straps in the back of my head gear, the hair helps hold the gear on well. If I just slip it over my hair and don't pull the hair out over the straps, my gear always slips up and off.
