More Dramatic Conscious Events with AutoPap

Post by sleepykitty » Thu Jul 14, 2005 7:21 pm

Hi. I am a newbie on Remstar auto w/cflex. I have been on it for a week now.... It's been hard to get acclimated to it, but I have had a lot of encouragement from RT's and this board to keep at it. I have noticed consciously waking with more dramatic gasps of air and more dramatic leg movement while on the unit. What's up with that?

Hi Ronda,

What pressure range is your machine set at, and what setting is C-Flex on?

Using nasal pillows......might need a full face mask if you are mouth breathing. I did that when I hit the top of my pressure setting. Need to know your titration levels.......don't be surprised if they need adjusting. If you have an RT who is working with you, call them and get help..that is what they are supposed to do! Rested Gal is right....check the CFLEX....you will be amazed at what they do not set! Trust me, this board will put you on the correct path!

Thanks for your replys. I am at 4 over 9 titration. When I hold down the ramp button to get my C-Flex setting, it skips the C-Flex perameter. I have appointment with my RT next week. I was using the nasal cup instead of nasal pillow, because we think the nasal pillow size 3 they started me on was too big -- it takes a while to order and recieve size 2.

I am not sure if the nasal cup was coming off or not during dramatic events. I have to pay better attention to that, but I think it has happened both with it on and off.

About the nasal cup -- I can't use with the humidifyer because there is too much condensation and it irritates my skin like crazy when I sweat where it contacts. So I am putting lotion and powder mixed together there to keep it sweat-free, but I am sacrificing some of the seal. I haven't tried lotion and powder with the humidifyer on, maybe that will seal better-- however, the humidfied air with the nasal cup feels "stuffy"...

Thanks again for your responses. Perhaps I'll be a hosehead afterall.
