CPAPAuction question

Post by carbonman » Mon Jul 28, 2008 11:35 am

If something is listed as unused, original container
unopened, where did it come from and how did it end
up on the auction??
How does "someone" have many, many of these items forsale??

Is this a save place to get stuff??

I've noticed that a number of them appear to be DME shops......possibly getting rid of excess inventory? Maybe the "freebies" from the manufacturers?.....bonuses for selling X amount of a manufacturer's product?

Others, like individuals, may have gotten their "6-month mask allotment" and decided that it wasn't what they were expecting or that they wanted to resell it for the $$$ instead.

Don't know for sure. "There are 6 million stories in The Naked City."

I'd look at the package for thermal re-sealing.

If they are Respironics masks, they used to give that cheap crap away to sleep labs and DME's based on the number of machines purchased,

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I've wondered whether the "unused" masks have been tried on, but not given to a "patient" and used for several days. But I'm just guessing. I've had the same question.

I'm not getting are real positive feeling that this is a
route to go.

I wonder if these are masks that are returned through
their "return insc." plan and then repackaged.

I have seen some items that people get from the B&M DME's and don't need them because the masks last longer than the rerplacement schedule so they take them and sell them without opening the package. Insurance pays for it and they get the money from the sale.

it's a lot like ebay. to an extent you have to trust people-or not.feedback is a good clue. i have bought & sold a few items on here & tried to be as brutally honest as can be. i would rather someone be pleasantly surprised condition wise than to be disappointed. when i did sell, i always lost $, but was better than having stuff around and not using . there are some bargains to be had compared to the alternative .

I've only bought from DME's with good feedback so far (on cpapauction.com). I bought one item from a "regular guy" and he wrote me that he no longer had the item and immediately refunded the money. I don't know what that was about. But I didn't lose money, so I guess I'm okay with it.

Some people here have reported similar experiences. It's a free market. You are taking a chance. If you don't like that, then don't play.

Cheers,
Babs

I have bought 3 masks;1 CPAP machine and sold a mask on cpapauction.com. All of my transactions have been "quick and painless".
