BiPAP equipment Suggestions?

Post by MsPiccolo » Mon Jul 28, 2008 5:48 pm

I'm going to the DME tomorrow for the first time and wanted to see if anyone has suggestions on BiPAPs? I've been looking at the Respironics BiPAP Auto M Series with Bi-Flex. Looking for suggestions.

I have one - I like it if that helps.

Don't worry when they tell you it leaks - 1st its been fixed, 2nd mine never leaked, 3rd many of the leaks may have been caused by the users forgetting it had water in it when the moved it or picked it up.

M Series data loss is from tooo many sessions on the card - Don't even concern yourself with that. If DME says thats a problem ask him for 2 cards - problem solved. Tho its not likely the DME even knows about that. If they start talking like that they are trying to get you to settle for something less. Don't do it.

Beyond that, I can't say as I've never had an off-brand.

Good Luck,
GumbyCT

I have that one and like it very much. I use a separate Fisher & Paykel HC 150 humidifier with it instead of the integrated humidifier.

When you get your machine, PM me your email address, and I'll send you a PDF of the Provider manual (clinical manual.) The DME almost certainly won't give you that manual.

Ah, well. I only have experience w/a bi-level with the Resmed VPAP Auto bi-level. Altho it was just introduced in January of 2008, Resmed has come out w/the Resmed S8 II VPAP Auto 25 just this month. Its pressure range is 5 cms higher at 4-25 cms vs 4 to 20 cms on mine. It also has a larger capacity integrated humidifier, the Humidaire 4i, whereas mine uses the Humidaire 3i. But both have the new EasyBreathe technology and I LOVE it!

So, of course, my recommendation would be to consider the new Resmed S8 II VPAP Auto 25 bi-level. Or even my Resmed VPAP Auto bi-level. If you DO get the Resmed VPAP Auto I can send you a .pdf of the Clinicians Manual.

I have the classic or tank version of the Auto Bipap with BiFlex and I really like it. No data loss here or leaks from the humidifier.

Thanks for your responses. I'll be sure to post after I go to the DME today.
