For me, it took me right around 4 to 5 months to get adjusted/adapted fairly well to the use of the cpap and the mask, then I had nasal and turbinate surgery and really couldn't really wear/use the cpap machine for about 3 to 4 months after so (due to extreme soreness) of my nose so I basically had to start over from scratch so I am now about 4 months back on therapy!

I am still experiencing the diziness, light headedness, foggy head, fatigue, and sleepiness, seems like it is worse this time around for some reason.

As far as the LOW BLOOD PRESSURE goes, i've always had low blood pressure and some shallow breathing so I can't comment much about that, i'm in the same boat your in and I don't have a sleep doctor ( I can't seem to find one in the town I live in )!!! so, i'm on my own. Everytime I go to my regular doctor, my BP is fairly normal because of all the walking, excitement, etc., trying to get there so it raises it to normal range. My temprature also runs at 97 rather than 98.6, so does my Mom's but when I was younger it always ran the norm of 98.6...

Did you always keep tabs on your BP before getting on CPAP therapy? If so, can you post a list with dates of your pressures from then up until now?

All I can say is you will slowly continue to get better but you must hang in there and don't give up the fight, it will be a long battle but it will be worth it in the long run, if the low BP continues, you must go to the doctor and have it checked out.

I do hope you feel better soon and can get to the bottom of what the underlying problem is and post back to let us know!

Goodluck and take care,

SleepyNoMore

Thank you very much to share with me your experience, I really feel identified with it, so I just need to be perseverant and I know I'll do better in this journey. Culture is another barrier that was blocking me, I got surprise that this problem is kind of common in USA but in my origin country (Mexico) they don't pay too much attention about it, and I hope someday they really care about it and more people can be more healthy.

About my BP I never tracked before since the doctor always says it was normal, but now I need to pay more attention to it and to all new signs about my health, this can help me to track everything and avoid future problems, and in the future will help to my kids to know about family heritage.

Ok. my friends thanks again for encourage me to continue with my therapy, I am starting my week 2, so I know there are still more new things to learn and learn from this forum too.

Take care and keep in touch.

Empis,

There is someone in the chat room during the day named Vero, he/she only speaks spnaish and is in Mexico, I used what spanish I know to point him on possibilites where to get a CPAP, but you probably know alot more where they could get on in Mexico.

Does anybody know how long do we supposed to wear the mask during the night? 5, 6, 7 8 hours of sleeping? how much is considering a good average or normal?

There are 2 times that after 4 or 5 hours I want to wake up and not feeling sleepy but, you know I am talking to wake up betwwen 3-5 am, is this sympthom normal? or these kind of events happened while adapting?

That is normal, I know I still wake up sometimes, not completely used to having a mask on my face. When I had nasal pillows, I would take them off in my sleep without realizing it. As for how long you should wear the mask, wear it the whole time you are sleeping. Sleep as long as you need to.

Yes wear use the CPAP every time you sleep (even naps) for the entire duration of your sleep.

Many have a simialr eperience when starting. THe first week or two for I would wake up after 4 or 5 hours and feel like I had slept for 8 or 10 hours. My sleep pattern gradualy went back to normal and I now sleep about 7 to 8 hours each night.

This treatment takes some time ... more for some and less for others.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for responding this is a good relief that I am doing good on my therapy, sometimes is hard to find somebody that lives close to you having the same problem and learn from them, but now this cpaptalk.com I am loving everyday more and more, feeling familiar with all of you.

Another question, I need to travel in 2 weeks to Mexico driving, it usually takes me 7 hours driving, but this is going to be my first time after wearing the mask, is it supposed to be the same or even better than before?

Sometimes there is a residue on the masks when brand new. You need to wash them before using even if the silicone cushion comes straight out of a sealed bag..

when i first used the profile lite gel mask i could not tolerate after a few days because of the pinching. i figured it was the mask material pulling my mustache.have not had the problem with the nasal pillows.

Ok. I am going to double clean my nasal pillows, but when I went to the sleep study I had the same sensation of pinching and I think the mask wasn't clean or desinfected at that time, or I don't know for sure what happened to me, but close to my eyes in one side of my nose started to look a red spot so I thought it was for wearing something new on my face, and later than I had some infection in that area, that last for 4 or 5 days, and now there's a half inch black stripe as a scare....now I feel like a scareface !!! I called them to let them know about it, and they just say they always desinfected....Does anybody of you had the same problem before?????

For a new mask, and sesnitive skin, soaking, for 30-60 minutes is even better than just washing.

A half inch black scar sound does sound like a scare to me - I would show it to a doctor.

I had brilliant red "carpet burns" in response to a new, unsoaked nasal mask. They disappeared when I soaked the mask. I had a painful red spot - the beginnings of a pressure sore - in/on my nostril when I wasn't used to the nasal pillows mask - on the RT's instruction I stopped using the mask for 2 nights - the sore healed, and I have never had to stop since (more than 3 years now).

In neither case was the area infected, just inlamed. Sores need blood circulation in order to heal, and they also need the circulation in order to fight potential infcetions. Continuing pressure on a sore cannot do it any good.

Have a knowledgeable person look at your sore
Enquire about how to treat infection if that's what you have
Talk to your sleep doc/ RT about letting the sore heal. They should know how bad your desaturations are without a mask.

Even dreamstalker (one of the severe apnea champs.... ) took a one night break.

Ok...my friend... I am going to be more careful about this tickling and pinching sensation, sometimes it feels stronger than others.... I guess I am still adapting to the equipment...
