ResMed AutoSet Spirit data collection

Post by pmany » Sun Jul 20, 2008 7:42 pm

Does anybody know how to get data off of a ResMed AutoSet Spirit? I assume I will be using the 9pin D connector, however I do not know if just any cable will work or if it needs the ResMed cable.

Also what software to use? or if I locate a cable could I simply download the data to a text type file?

You will need software made by resmed (Rescan 3.4 for XP, 3.5 for Vista (I think). The data is encrypted so you pretty much have to use this software. I don't know about the cable. I use the smart card and smart card reader.

If you dont want to invest the $150 or so, you can retrieve some of the data by pressing the left and right arrows simultaneously, holding them down until the screen says Efficacy Data (about 4 or 5 sec). You can then scroll through the latest day, week, month, 6 month, year averages for AHI, AI, HI, leak, pressure and therapy hours. For the daily data, you need to do this before noon, otherwise it will show no data. The data reporting time interval is noon to noon.

The Sleep data can be displayed on the machine withOUT any needed software,

Press the Left and Right button hold them down for 5 seconds, if enabled it will display AI, HI and leak information. If not enabled, press the center down button and the right button at the same time to enter setup and enable clinical data mode display.

Any standard 9 pin D connector "null modem" cable will work for establishing link level connectivity to a PC with a serial port, but as noted above you will need ResMed software, either ResScan 3.x (current) or AutoScan 5.x (discontinued), to actually get usable access to the data.

Cheers,

Bill

I've just started CPAP again with an old ResMed AutoSet Spirit, will be attempting to pull data off it to a Mac, using CrossOver as my emulator. I've just ordered the 9-pin RS-232 to USB cable to start. Hoping I'll be able to import the data from ResScan into Sleepyhead, to merge with my Zeo data.

I have successfully done this. You will also need a null modem cable; connect one cable to the other. Unfortunately it turned out that my S7 AutoSet Respond is a brick that only records compliance data.
